Folks I am in need of some assistance. My brakes went today on my 2011 Taco went on me on the way home this afternoon. It turns out one of the front disk brake caliper mounting bolts came loose and fell out. The resulting stress from brake use caused the steel section of the brake line (from the rubber hose to steel line junction to the caliper) to crack, loose pressure and next thing I know the pedal is on the floor and I almost end up on the front lawn (over a 5 foot wall).

Turns out no auto parts stores around here (central MA) seem to carry the caliper mounting bolts (at least al the websites say the size wont fit but I have to think they're somewhat universal).

Pic attached. is that steel line a standard part I can buy? I cannot seem to find it anywhere on line. or does it have to bent and flared?

second part. how difficult is it to bleed the brakes on my Taco. I am fairly skilled at most mechanical jobs and have done most of the maintenance myself.

    Thanks
    Ken

Bleeding brakes is fairly easy. If you can get somebody to pour BF in while you pump the brake pedal. Else you can buy a container that you pressurize the fluid, it helps but I still needed to pump my brake pedal. You can do it without assistance and without the pressurized container, it jut takes longer.

Take the matching bolt from the other side to an Ace hardware or your local bolt supplier. They may have it on the shelf. Metric fine thread bolts are sometimes difficult to source.
