Help! How do I handle this stripped/seized bolt? (pic)

    I know you got the bolt out but Milwaukee makes some great vice grips. The adjustment knob has a hole in it so after you clamp on to something you can stick a screwdriver in it and crank it down. Has saved me multiple times.

    Bingo. My 12pts are all hidden away and rarely used.

    HAHAHAHAHA! And then the bean counters said "8.8 will be plenty good enough for 99% of the time and save us $0.12 a unit."


    Also, SAE vs metric grading is a little confusing sometimes. a grade 5 SAE bolt is closest in hardness/strength to a Metric 8.8 and grade 8 SAE is roughly 10.9. I wouldn't hesitate to put 10.9 in any application that originally had 8.8 as it is still not hard enough to be brittle.
