After starting to run 285/75 r16s on stock 3rd gen 4runner rims, I realized I am in need of some spacers. I have read up extensively and it seems that the general consensus is that spidertraxx are awesome and hub centric is the way to go.
HOWEVER, after calling Toytec to confirm that the hubcentric ones fit on my 1998 3.4l 4wd TRD Tacoma, they said they won't. Wheeler's Offroad said that they would. So basically I'm totally lost and I need some help. Anyone with a 98 running hubcentrics? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Toytec said that my hubs are a different size than the 2001+ tacoma however I am running 3rd gen 4runner wheels which fit great on my truck and the hub centric spacers are supposed to fit on 3rd gen 4runners so wouldn't they do fine on my truck? Please help.

Your hubs are the same size as every other 1st gen, and your wheels are hub centric. Spidertrax will fit perfectly, and are one of the best quality spacers you can get.
FWIW, calling parts vendors to get fitment info is hit or miss at best. Most of them are just selling parts, they don't know everything about every model.

Eh, I'm pretty sure it depends if his hubs are manual locking or not.

1.25" spacers will need modification to fit (use a dremel to shave a little material where the hub nuts hit). 1.5" and up should fit without modification.

Good call, I was not aware there was an issue with fitment on manual hubs.
Doesn't sound like that will be a problem here though.

Hate to revive this thread but If I have manual locks, do i need to go with the 1.5" spacer? Their website says that the 1995-2000 require the 1.5 and the 2001-2004 require the 1.25.
