Help! I screwed up/got screwed with my lift

    Before I start, I want to say that I was/am a total noob to the lift scene. I got my hands on a little extra money, got impatient to get my truck lifted ASAP and didn't do nearly enough research. Don't be like me.

    I just had a decent kit installed. Toytec/Eibach coils, 5100's all around, a 2" AAL and a diff drop. The goal was a level 3" lift. When it came time to drop my truck off at the shop, the owner asked me what height I wanted the front 5100's set at. I said that I had no idea, but that I was looking for a level 3" lift. He said "well then I'd go with setting them at 2.5". Being a trusting and ignorant asshole that I am, I said go for it. I got a 4.1" lift, 0 caster and vibrations like you wouldn't believe.

    I installed a carrier bearing drop kit to see if that would help with the vibrations (it didnt). I backordered a set of TC UCA's to get some positive caster. I then went back and spent a week reading everything on these forums and spoke with the guys at ToyTec. Apparently I should have had the shocks set at 0 or 0.85 at the most - anything above that and a blown axle or shock is a sure thing. My truck is hanging out in the driveway until it goes back to the shop on Friday.

    Help me out:

    To get rid of the vibrations, should I set the shocks at 0 in front, giving me 1.6" lift with the springs and leave the 2" AAL in the rear? How bad will that rake angle look?

    If I stick with the 1.6" lift, should I pull the AAL?

    Should I set the front shocks at 0.85" for 2.45" front, 2" rear and try to deal with vibrations by way of the carrier bearing drop/shims?

    Should I cancel the UCA order while I still can?

    I hope your cv's are ok, I would set them at 1.75 with the uca's, but only if you are a prerunner

    i'm not a suspension guru but some people that do eibachs usually set it at .85 with the 2" aal to achieve 3" overall level look. having the 5100's set at 2.5 and the eibachs i'm sure will do some damage if left like it is.

    deck plate mod,jba cat back,bilstein 5100's,ome 883 springs, Allpro expos, allpro U-bolt flip kit, 10" Bilstien 5150 shocks, custom lower shock mounts
    set them at .85 and you'll be good to go, that should take care of most if not all of your vibes

    The 5100s can't be set at anything higher than .85 with the Eibachs (2nd setting).

    A 1.5" AAL and the billies at .85 with Eibachs will put you about level

    Awesome. Thanks for all the responses, fellas. It's reassuring when everyone is saying the same thing (set the shocks at .85).

    Two more dumb questions:

    1) The CV joint thing has me worried. Is there any way to check for wear? Any trouble signs I should be looking for?

    2) Should I pull the OME carrier bearing drop after lowering the truck?

    1. Post up some pics and it'll help us tremendously. :) Generally, when the fins touch or are close to touching, you really want to lower the lift in the front. If they are at a point to where they aren't too close but still enough angle to concern you, then that's something to consider.

    2. If you loose your vibes after lowering and don't have anything, then I'd leave them.

    If the shop is that much in question, You may want to take a pic of the lower spring seat on the 5100's (The part that the bottom of the coil spring rests on), and post it up, so we can gauge if those were installed in teh correct orientation.

    I havent seen black spring seats on teh 5100's before....But yeah, Those look to be installed in the correct orientation.
