Salvage it for a hunting trailer maybe. Or as a full body decoy if you plan on hunting catalytic converter thieves. Or as yard art for a hunting cabin. But as far as hunting transportation goes you are pretty much fooked.

Rule 1 - Check depth first
Rule 2 - take the money and run, unless the ins company hands it to you for a bag of marbles

In all seriousness, he's had a lot of electrical problems ever since that "dunk".

So you willingly drove into a river and sank your truck and your insurance still covered it?
Now you want to collect insurance money and still have the truck?

Anyone ever wonder why insurance rates are as high as they are???

That's for another argument and will get the thread locked. He's trying to salvage the truck at least.

As cool as it looks, it's over rated for anything wearing a Tacoma badge. What part of the world were you hunting?

Sorry man it happened man. Gotta ask, what do you plan as its replacement?

Buy it back. Akarin might sell it for you with a nonsalvage title. Or better yet trexTRD could sell the truck for you and get to keep the truck and the money!

In OP's somewhat defense this looks like a case of a common trail becoming inundated after a significant rainfall. If you aren't sure of the area or you don't offroad a lot I know most people would blunder into that water thinking it was a stream and not a lake.

The check you depth rule does still apply though.

You guys are tough LOL! I am looking to buy another tacoma crew 4x4 exactly like this 1. I have decided to just let insurance take it and move on they gave me fair $ for it and hopefully I can find another 1. I was in Elysian Fields Texas hunting I have crossed this creek many times. Even after the picture I took the water rose another 4 inches or so till I could get help to pull me out!

sorry for your loss..that is a deep crossing.

i've been soaked to the nuts, pre-walking creeks to cross..now i chicken out at fairly shallow water.
i dont think a snorkle would have done anything. i thought those are more for getting a breath of fresh air in super dusty conditions.?

They are but will also help in water crossing if critical electronics are coated in a waterproof grease.

Snorkel could have potentially kept him from stalling out and then he would've just been able to plow through the rest of the water and get to the other side. There may have still been some electrical damage down the road but he would've made it through possibly

That's there intended design purpose, but they also keep water out of the engine for sudden dunks. Call it a nifty side perk. However, if you intend on dunking regularly, you should really marine seal everything on the truck.
