Do either of you know what wire to use as the remote turn on wire? Is there a wire in the stock harness that turns on the factory amp?

from this thread, it appears to be pin 12 on the other harness. i can't locate a breakout harness for that, but you should be able to use a cut up spade terminal.

there's the wiring diagram in post #16 download in that thread that will show it. yes it's for a later model, but toyota historically doesn't change much about their wiring, i expect you'll find everything to be wired similarly.

also, i hope you're running passive crossovers off the 4ch amp to properly filter the signal, as the jbl amp does all filtering internally before sending out individual signals to each speaker.

Thank you! No I hadn’t installed a passive crossover. Good point.

Just know that the JBL amps are different between 2010/2011, so the link above for a 13 won’t work on an 06

to clarify for myself and any others who might benefit: was beefstew's mistake with the PAC unit merely a matter of having plugged it into the aftermarket head unit, which had a different pin-out than the stock one? i ask because it might appear that the suggestion here is that the mistake was plugging it into the stock JBL amp.

I have a 6 ch RCA but will only be using 5 of them (one for the sub). Can I splice into one of the RCAs and use that for the remote turn on?

the PAC harness that I’m using is plugged into the factory JBL amp harness, not to the head unit. My mistake was that when I swapped the stock HU for aftermarket, I should not have had the stock JBL amp plugged in with the aftermarket one (the harness allows you to connect an aftermarket amp with the JBL amp going to the same output harness).

i'm afraid that is still a little unclear to me given that, as i understand, the purpose of the PAC unit is to preserve the functionality provided by the stock JBL amp while also using an aftermarket amp to drive your output to speakers. in other words, the PAC unit serves no purpose if the stock JBL amp doesn't remain in the mix.

From what I understand, that’s only the case if you’re keeping the factory HU. In my case, I would not have needed the pac harness since I could splice directly to the output wires instead of using the pac harness, but I’m going to keep it anyways since I’ve already come this far.
