Are you sure that's invoice price? It does not match what's listed on the pricing thread below. Even with the JBL package, invoice would be $31.2k.

Think I paid roughly $400 of dealer markup for my SR Access cab. I didn't mind as much since the dealer helped me quite a bit during the build/order process and had my truck on the lot ready to be picked up in about 3 weeks from my order date.

I was talking to Camelback Toyota in Phoenix back in January and was told that I'd have to pay a 2.7% local city/county tax to Maricopa County that California is under no obligation to give me credit for when I pay the tax difference. The dealer said sometimes California honors it and sometimes not. Considering my luck with such things I just assumed I'd get hit with it! Tempe is in Maricopa County so I'm curious to what someone else's experience might be.

Another thing they had included as part of their quote was a $495 doc fee. I asked if that was the same as the $900 delivery, processing and handling fee and he said it was not. He said, "The Doc Fee is separate from the $900 delivery fee that Toyota charges on the window sticker and invoice to cover the cost of getting the vehicle from the factory to the dealership. I believe the Doc Fees in California are capped around $99 per vehicle. There is no such cap in AZ."

Between the Maricopa tax and uncertainty of the difference between this doc and delivery & handling fee I backed out. I'm still not opposed to going out of state if the price is right though. I just don't want any surprises at the DMV.

The 7500 miles is only used for determining if the vehicle was bought new. Anything less, the state treats the vehicle as new, over it treats it as a used vehicle.

I paid 800 BELOW invoice on my truck. I was lucky. It was a roll-out. Someone bouight it.Couldnt get financing and had to return it a few days later. They originally tried to get me for only 500 under msrp. It wasnt easy, and tempers flared a little. I left the dealer at one point, and ended up going back an hour later after a phone call with a price agreement.

My saleman said that they've been selling very fast, and the most she had seen a customer get at the dealer was only 500 below msrp at that specific dealer.

In California it's "State law" the dealer must show the original Invoice for the vehicle we are buying. In my case, I ordered my TRD Sport Long Bed 2WD. Once it arrived they showed me the invoice for my Taco, I paid $300 Over invoice. MSRP $33,524, Invoice $31,053, I paid $31,353. A person can get very close to what the dealer pays for these trucks by going to http://www.kbb.com/ and doing a little research before buying.

But, I've had 20 year relationship with my Dealer bought at least 6 new vehicles over the years and I had to Pre-order 2016 Taco. They were NOT willing to deal until February 2016.

I am in orange county and had the same issue. Someone here recommended a guy in Ohio, so I called him. He quoted me $2500 under MSRP and said the lead time would be about 6 weeks. Just received my truck yesterday and couldn't be happier.

If you're interested his name is Dean and he works at Toyota West Ohio. After terrible experiences with my local dealers I would highly recommend this route. He also offered a great finance rate and handled shipping for me.

FYI, I have spoken to at least 3 others on Tacoma world now that went through Dean and also had great experiences.

Here's his phone number is you're interested. 614-204-1106

Good question. I was wondering the same thing. Drive out, fly out, or ship, cost $ to do this. One must put this on top of your original cost of vehicle.
