Help identifying a fake trim pack(The saga continues) lol

I have a 2008 Tacoma PreRunner V6 SR5 TRD Sport with a factory limited edition badge. So far using this forum i have deduced that I have the level 1 TRD Sport package with:
- color matched grille, mirrors, bumpers, handles, etc
-Bilstien shocks

SR5 package:
- power mirrors and windows, etc
- keyless entry

I am trying to find out what the limited edition badge means. Also please correct me if I am wrong on my other findings!

First post.. been wanting a tacoma for a while. Got this one used with 79k miles for 16k.

Do you have leather? As I am not sure in 2008 if leather was an option in the Limited

 

You should be able to pull it up with the VIN.

 

was wondering how to pull it up with vin. do i have to do that at a toyota dealership? doesnt have leather amd no tow package. someone installed a uhaul brand towing hitch without a oil or tranny cooler.

That's a fake Limited, not Factory.

 

well dang. i also dont have a hood scoop i dont think.. could the TRD Sport be fake too? tha ks for the knoeledge!

 

No hood scoop doesn't mean it's not a real sport. Some people didn't like the glare and swapped them out

Not a sport. Handles not painted and mirrors don't look painted, plus no scoop. See if it has the 120v power outlet in bed with switch on dash. 2008 didn't have a Limited. That looks to be a base SR5. Hope they didn't sell you a Non TRD for a TRD price.

 

I notice that the rear bumper is chrome it should be body color on a Sport but someone can easily put a chrome Taco bumper on a Sport.
I also observe Grandtrek Dunlops which is the stock tire for the SR5 and below but not for a TRD.
I suspect that it is really just an SR5 and someone put the Sport decals on or it is a Sport that a previous owner modded and kept all the mods. Most likey an SR5 with Sport decals.

Crap! Just my luck. I just bought this damn thing two days ago from a reputable dealer in my area.

 

As one said, thats a fake limited edition badge. When I worked at Pep Boys we called cars with stuff like than an "aisle 1 special" (aisle 1 had all the fake badges and scoops). I'd take it off, its held on with 3m tape.

 

Are you sure about the reputable part? Because this thread seems to indicate otherwise sorry for your luck.

It still is an SR5 which is a perfectly fine truck I own one. Hopefully you didn't pay TRD pricing. If so lesson learned for other lurkers post any used Tacoma you are looking at here before you buy.

 

Welp, not sure anymore, of course. This sucks.

 

I would go back ASAP go to a Toyota dealer have them run the VIN and prove its not a TRD Sport then I would go back to that dealer and demand a refund on the price difference between a TRD Sport and SR5.

 

You don't have a clue what the price was based off of.

So before you spout off and tell the OP to go demand and be irrational, chill out for a bit.
