I have read, don't have first hand knowledge, that crappy dealers will put the TRD sport and off road stickers on their trucks and sell them for higher price.

a quick search on CL confirms what I hear. This sucks.

I have read all kinds of shit that isn't true 100% of the time.

Anybody telling him he got fucked is as clueless as he is. The amount of experts here is zero.

Yeah, you are right, I am clueless. Had no idea. Maybe they didnt know. Not sure. But, they did advertise it as a TRD Sport with the tow package. It doesnt seem like the TRD sport now and the tow package isnt a tow package, just a UHAUL hitch added on. I should have done more research, but I was clueless about trucks, as this is my first. Makes me wonder about the rest of this truck now. Uhg, Its a shitty feelling to think you have been had. Mostly my fault I guess, should have signed up to tacoma worls before I bought the truck and let you guys check it out. lol. Ill get the VIN report and take it to the dealer if its not what they sold it as.

I needed the sport v6 with hitch package to pull my boat. Doubt this will get me up the boat ramp with my 3,500 lb boat.

No. Its a big dealership that been here for a long time though, Bob Moore of TUlsa. Its not one of those small fly-by-night rinky dink dealerships. Its been in Tulsa's Dealership rowe for a while. Ill talk to them and see what can be done.

Call them asap. Time is not on your side. If they advertised it as a red sport with tow, and it's not one, then it's bait and switch.

Going to call them first thing tomorrow. I am reading about some laws:

Auto Dealer Fraud; common examples of illegal practices:
"Affirmative misrepresentations are meant to mislead customers in much the same way as non-disclosures, but in this type of fraud, the salesman takes a more active role. Examples include odometer tampering, “bait and switch” advertising, and asserting that a vehicle contains options or features that it does not. Auto dealerships have also been caught quoting a monthly payment amount at the time of sale that reflects not only the ticket price and interest, but additional items and services the customer does not know about or want. "

Which is exactly what happened. I hope it doesnt come to court, Hopefully they will do the right thing - as I am sure they didnt know it was a fake.

Definitely not a Sport or Off Road. Those don't even appear to be OEM Stickers. Nice tan interior though, don't see many of those around.

The Sports and TRD Off Road have bedside decals yes, but not like that from what I remember took mine off a while ago. These are the real OEM versions

the decals do look semi legit since my thinking is they would be different color on a black vehicle. I appreciate you all for taking time to help with this isse i am having.

Do you still have copies of the ad from the dealership touting this Tacoma as a TRD Sport model? That will go a long way toward proving your point, if they indeed priced it as such. It seems obvious, since it has the decals, but...

Without copies of the advertising, and they knew the truck was not a Sport, but now the deal is done, what's to keep them from denying that they ever priced it or sold it as a Sport?...good luck, man, it really sucks to feel like you've been had...

Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
The dash switches are a dead give away, not a TRD IMO. The shocks should also be yellow bilsteins, it should have a hood scoop, and the rear bumper should be painted.

It does have a tow package.

It doesn't have a factory tow package.

Not sure what all was involved with the deal but if it was sold to you as a legitimate sport and you paid TRD sport pricing, hopefully the dealer will meet you part way at least. Fingers crossed.

You'll also be able to tell if its got the tow package by the smaller radiator in front of the larger one I believe.

Just snapped this off my TRD OR w/ tow.20160313_172432.jpg

If it has a receiver and a wiring harness, that is a tow package.

There is no specification that a "tow package" only be called so if it is manufacturer installed and has an HO alternator, trans cooler, etc.
