Yes, mine says TRD SPORT under grade. You either have really good 'sport' copy, or Toyota's VIN database is wrong.

    • Model 2016 TACOMA
    • Grade TRD SPORT
    • Exterior Color BLAZING BLUE PEARL
    • Interior Color GRAPHITE W/ GUN METAL
    • Engine 6-CYLINDER
    • Body Type D CAB
    • Drive Type 2WD
    • Transmission 6AT
    • Selling Dealer

Those shocks aren't worth stressing over. You can buy a set of take offs for $75-100 on this forum 4 days a week.

Sport is mainly seats and different painted pieces.

It's a trim package, not a difference in model.

Aside from color matched mirrors, bumpers, Bilstein shocks, and a hood scoop I'm not sure what all you're missing for a Sport.
My SR5 came with tow package and the extra radiator/cooler. So those aren't unique to the Sport anyhow.

The only thing worth noting between trims and models is the "Off-Road" package that comes with a rear locker on the differential. Everything else is visual crap as far as I'm concerned.

It sucks, but there is no mistake, your truck is NOT a TRD Sport.

The bed does not have the AC outlet; grill, bumper, handles, and mirrors not painted, non-OEM decal, no bilstien shocks, no scoop.

No sense in worrying, you don't have a TRD.

Seats, 110v bed outlet, tow package including Trans cooler, coil springs are different sport to sr5 too although sr5 are smoother riding.

Didn't the TRD of that vintage come with the four leaf spring pack? Can't quite see in your pictures. My SR5 only had three leaf... The TSB on my '06 was to upgrade to the four leaf. That did make a difference for me in towing.

My 2015 SR5 4x4 had the 4 leaf on it from the factory. Sitting in my garage still...

Strange. Mine is a TRD off road. If it's a fake, someone really did an amazing job. It has EVERTHING the off road should... I'm pretty sure the database is wrong.

Probably not an issue until you trade in the truck and have to explain why it shows up as base?

I think "Base" is used rather liberally. Mine is an SR5 and my Toyota owner login on the corporate website says I have a "Base". Many manufacturer websites when you want to see if a part fits your truck will specify "Base" or "PreRunner" only as options.

Yeah, I'm not too worried about it. Pretty sure I was actually in the opposite situation as the OP and got a great deal because the dealer thought it was a base. :notsure::evil::bananadance:

okay. well. im feeling better about this then. seems like sport didnt have much to offer that i miss anyhow. I will takr these damn fake decals off. Not driving no fake shit around. lol. mine are the recalled 3 leaf springs, which toyota says they will fix soon. All other recalls have been done to this. its been well lept it seemed.. but i hate to think it was driven by some teen douchebag putting fake stickers on it. Oh well.

Fog lights. And unless modified they only work with the headlights turned on. There's a thread for modifying them to work anytime. You can search for "Fog light anytime mod".

If you find any other buttons or symbols you don't understand I recommend this guide:

I saw a similar situation at a dealer in Denver. Georgis Auto Sales on Colfax. Not only is he trying to sell salvaged vehicles with band aid repairs, but every truck on the lot had a matching TRD Off Road sticker.

I feel bad for the people that are constantly scammed by that dealer. Don't even know how they stay in business with a BBB rating of D-...

That dealer is a total scam. His prices are too good to be true for a reason.

Ultimately folks need to be contacting the STATE about fraud not the BBB. The BBB is nothing but a frat group that takes your money in my opinion. You can't get an A or higher unless you pay them for membership. I'll trust word of mouth over BBB any day.
