HELP identifying a spider. "pics".

Some of you may have seen the pic of the female black widow that I found at the bottom of my stairs on the baseboard last nite in the "live" thread.
Didn't have time to mess with her so I caught her in a glass and headed off to work.
This morning when I checked on her she was fine and in the very corner in her cobweb was another spider. This one much smaller with longer legs in proportion to it's body. I know the male black widows are smaller and brownish in color and the legs are longer but the pics I find doing a google search look different.
Can anyone that knows about spiders either confirm or deny the smaller spider is a male black widow? If it's not, what kind of spider is it please.

 

I can find any google pics of a male that looks like this. I'm quite sure it isn't a juvinile or there would be more. Hopefully someone on here is a resident arachnoligist.
Did a pretty thorough sweep thru of the house and garage and didn't see any more. Hopefully it is an isolated case.

jeez, those give me the creeps...good pictures though. I don't think its a black widow...haven't seen that one before though. The only reason I can think of that that might be a black widow is a "kind of" hourglass on its ass. rear legs aren't really proportional like they should be..

 

hmm. The one I have doesn't look like the one on the left. This one looks like a crab kinda with it's legs out to the side and it actually kinda walked like a crab sideways. The male in the pic has them going forward. Trying to look at other south carolina spiders.

I noticed that too. I thought maybe it was just the position the spider was in.

a big help to those who want spider IDs is noting the number of eyes, either 6 or 8, its a good start in the ID process.

 

That has to be it. And that would explain the way it was running and the second set of legs does look longer. So they are native to SC I am guessing. Trying to read the article.

Well, Greg has a point but it was definately running sideways under the glass when I caught it. It was also in the same web as the female black widow that I caught lastnite. The article stated that the running crab spider doesnt build a web it hunts down other prey like a jumping spider. (Those things scare the shit out of me as well).
So I am beggining to think it might be a juvinile running crab spider and was over in the black widows cobweb hunting. I didnt see any eggs or eggsack and no other widows in the house. So I hope it's all good. I might call someone anyway.
