So I need help from the collective knowledge of all you Tacoma gurus for I am but a mere noob.

Went out this morning to warm up the truck before taking the kiddos to school, and when we go back out to pack in the truck I see my wife's old dog pulling and tugging something on the driver's side of truck, whole thing was visibly being shook.

Went to see what it was she was biting on and it's this big chunky cable that connects to the driver rear wheel hub. Like I said I'm a noob and have no idea what this cable is for or where the other end runs too. I can see the areas where she bit, but its quite a chunky thick cable, I don't think any damage was done, truck runs fine, no warning lights, brakes good.

It honestly appears to be cosmetic damage to the rubber that surrounds whatever is inside. Tell me, should I be concerned? Water getting in? What is this cable any way?

Any and all input is appreciated.

The above. I'd wrap it in a GOOD electrical tape [commercial quality, the glue is WAY better the the cheapo stuff, I got spoiled working for a utility] and then coat it in a liquid electrical sealant.

The question is, why is the wife's dog so concerned about pulling the e-brake?

I think you have a reincarnated safety inspector.

    You say wife's dog.

    Is it 'your' truck?

Dog ticked at you for some reason? :D

Definitely don't want that getting screwed with...

This, I will do. I appreciate the advice.
The ebrake still engages fine so I don't believe anything is damaged :fingerscrossed:

Hopefully I can get her done before the next rain...

She's actually part pitbull part lab. Sweet old dog, but after what I witnessed she's definitely the wife's dog. Dogs are great and all and I get the application for farm/large properties, but I'm no dog person.

I gave her some stern scoldings and she seemed remorseful so I hope she got the message.

The reason I asked is because pibbles get fixated when they start doing something and while a regular dog would go ''eh, not very tasty'' and quit, a pibble just goes into ''gotta tear it up'' mode and keeps on chomping.

So I have another question? Is there a physical cable in the rubber that engages parking break, or it is it wires?

There is an actual steel cable inside.

We'll that's good to know there's nothing electrical that can be damaged.
I appreciate everyone's responses, gives me peace of mind. I very much have an "it's a truck" attitude towards it, she gets beat up, that's what it's for.
I still take good care of her, but if anyone is beating her up it damn sure better be me ;)
