    Help!!

    I recently purchased a 2000 Tacoma SR5 3.4L V6

The dash has a few plugs that are not connected, and I'm hoping for some help with this one. I've figured out the others, but I can't for the life of me figure out what this connection is for. It's located to the left of the steering column just left of the ECT power and cluster dimmer. Screen Shot 2020-02-23 at 4.59.38 PM.jpg

Is your truck TRD version? If no, it may be for the rear axle lock that TRD trucks have. There are lots of unused plugs for our trucks.

    Edit:

Your pic is very dark. Took me a while to figure out what side of the steering wheel your pic shows. I think that may be for fog lights.

It's not a TRD. I think the image in this message is of plug for the rear diff lock, which is different, but I may be wrong. Thanks for the response! The previous owner had the dash pretty torn up, and I'm just trying put things back together.

Toyota, smart folk that they are, have designed a system where each connector is unique to each switch. You could, if you want to spend some interesting time being a detective, look at the part number on the switch and backtrack through the connector master catalog (which is a sticky here, I think).

Alternatively, you can take out all your switches and see which one it might fit.

Most of the connectors look similar, but they all differ in important ways and none of them are cross-fits.

It looks like a switch. But is actually an air pressure sensor.

Here are my panel illumination rheostat and my rear diff lock switches. No photo of the connector, but yours might be in the same family as the diff lock.

It's much easier and cheaper to make a wiring harness that fits every option than a dozen different ones.
