Help in replacing valve cover gasket 4 cylinder 2TR engine

After 94K miles on my 05 Tacoma 4 banger. I've developed a valve cover cover leak, tried stop leak gasket for the engine oil, and also tried to tighten the valve cover bolts. It hasn't helped, so I purchased a rubber gasket for it. Have tried to removed the valve cover, but my biggest problem is this massive bracket in the very back corner passenger side next to the PCV. Having a problem working around it, the bracket holds the wire harness up & away from the engine. Can't even figure how the bracket is attached to the engine block because the space is about 1/2 inch from the firewall. Can anyone give me any pointers on removing it or working around it. Any other surprises I need to know? Thxs

 

The plastic piece that holds wire harness has a clip that you lift up and it slides off the end of the bracket.

The bracket is bolted to the engine block with a single bolt, probably 10 or 12 mm.

 

Thanks for the reply. I assume the bolt is also holding the cover down. Other question do I need to remove the spark plugs to remove the valve cover?

 

No the spark plugs are fine installed. You will just need to unplug them.

 

No, it is separate from the valve cover bolts.

 

Found this step by step breakdown from another site of removing the valve cover. Suggest for anyone doing it, to raise the rear end of the truck so you'll have easier access to the back side of the valve cover bolts. In addition the back rear wire harness bracket on passenger side & metal tubing located on rear driver side. It's best to bend it back a 1/2 inch to get access to the 2 bolts & one nut. Easier in removing/installing valve cover. Also installed new PCV and spark plugs.
