The "I've fallen and, I can't get up" reference. Usually used in comical situations.

Is that what warrants douchbaggery? No need for "backrubs and butterfly kisses," as you say. But I don't believe it's an appropriate place to criticize another driver's ability.

Hollister can be a fun and challenging place. Most people go once or twice, drive the easy trails and then talk shit about the difficulty. There are many trails there most of our tacomas on 285's cant navigate. Theres more to the place than the obsticle course and getting to the top of the mountain.

Yup, this. Phil knows, we went off the beaten path once, taking a wrong turn, lots of off camber stuff and then got to a spot where the trail went up pretty steep and even phil could only get up so far so that we could turn around. You could see huge tread marks in the mud that only went up so far

I agree, easy to be negative props for getting out there. My truck is my DD can't afford to do that with. Just the usual tow and haul.

It was really the 2wd 5-lugger guy that was being a dick. Nothing wrong with 5-luggers, or purple cars, but his comment started this downward spiral.

If you've spent enough time with Andy camping or wheeling, you would know that he is just joking around. Ball busting. Comments are harsher online than in person.

Glad you had fun out there and didn't damage your truck Tim.

Haha. Someone needs to put all the great Hollister references in one place...

Didn't see any douchabaggery in this thread... Andy in is a standup dude and a vet in the overlanding norcal wheeling community. There is a large difference between a controlled terrain park and a 300 mile dirt adventure or a 20 mile rubicon trip. I started at Hollister hills. Its a great place to learn and get to know your rig with rated trails and a place for AAA to pick you up a couple miles away. When you guys get bored come out on an adventure with us.

    PS: looked like fun

I kinda wish I was there for that recovery. Even for being at hollister, looks like a lot to learn from getting it out without damage. I likes learning.

I will go anywhere for a good recovery. I am on that norcal 4x4 recovery facebook page, but they are all usually out of reach. I drive the three minutes of backroads to work hoping for a mercedes in the ditch or a downed tree to chainsaw. I have issues....

Hah! Yeah last time at Pismo I got to the beach a good 45 minutes ahead of Sam so I tossed my strap in the bed and hooked it up and just drove around pulling out all the huge lifted full size trucks that weren't to proud to accept it. Couple guys just said no all attitudey and I left them to spin tires and dig themselves deeper lol. Dumb motherfucker in your huge lifted chevy parking in deep sand uphill. Good luck with that one lol.

I don't know, Nick. Most of the time, the overland community feels like the craft beer crowd to me. Like what you like. And let other people like what they like.
