Hi, I am new to the tacoma world. Bought a used 2019 TRD Pro with JBL premium sound, the issue I have is that when I go higher than 47 in the volume meter I loos all the high end of the frequencies as if the tweeters shut off, so I want to upgrade mainly that without changing the factory amp, and I was considering buying a set of component kicker speakers wich come with the 6x9 subwoofer for the fornt doors and the mid/tweeter for the dash, and just a regular 2 way 6.5 for the rear doors.

Will that be ok, I am not looking to gain volume at all just clarity, to have a good sound.

    Thanks in advance!

What you're hearing with the crappy sound output is a common complaint here on the forum with regard to the 3G Tacoma JBL "premium" system.

You're not going to like this, but the JBL system is very unique and difficult to upgrade due to the way the system handles the frequency crossover & cutoff to the speakers. In a nutshell, the amp dynamically changes the frequency crossover based on volume. Added to the cluster fuck is the fact the speakers are all 4 ohm speakers, so good luck finding a set up speakers that will actually work with the OEM amp.

Unfortunately the only real solution to this problem that I know of, outside of yanking & rebuilding the entire system, is the OEM Audio Plus system linked below.

Sorry for the bad news dudesy. For what it's worth, there are a lot of solid HU's on the market nowadays that will put the Tacoma Entune unit to shame. Good luck!
