Time to make my build page!
This is what happened to me as well. The same shock that wouldn't turn without spinning the shock cylinder leaked oil from the hose fitting. I didn't even think I had touched it. King suggested that it was OK, but that I don't want to risk too much oil loss. I am with you about not wanting to risk it.

Per the top plate spacer, I will look into that, thanks! Is there a reason that people here frown on this? I have seen a few posts where they say "DON'T STACK LIFTS" but I haven't seen any evidence as to why or why not. This weekend I am going to do some test driving and see how 15 threads feels.

I don't think I will go LT on my truck anytime soon. Maybe when I retire it as my main mode of transportation. Part of the reason I've kept my truck is that when I go back east it is nice to fit into the tiny parking spaces and alleys. 7" more width would definitely mess with my parking mojo and MPG. I will, however, be interested to see how your truck handles the transition. I have an in-box Toytec lift for a 4runner sitting in storage. I'm thinking that finding a buyer for that would offset the cost of stock width TC LCAs quite nicely! I sold my Yeti cooler out of storage today to pay for new EBC 231mm 13WL slotted rotors and pads. Less stuff to store, more stuff for the Taco!

Im running 600lb Kings on my 14’ Tacoma with a stock bumper. If you have a steel front bumper I’d highly recommend 700lb coils

Just installed kings ext travel with 650 springs. Do you guys know how many threads should be showing to get about 3in from stock? I was only able to get to 5 threads on passenger and 6 on driver side. It won't budge any further with it even lubed.

I'll take a count for you when i get off of work. I'm fortunate enough to have acces to a full auto shop so I just took the coils off when i made my adjustments.

So with a 60 lb. plate bumper up front and 650# coils I have what looks like 11 threads driver and 8 passenger

How do your CVs look? That's a badass looking truck but the lift height makes me think the CVs must be pretty severely angled no?

You guys are lucky, on 1st gens we have to preload to 15+ threads to get 2.5" of lift on Kings. At one point I had 18 threads on one and 15 on the other, now I'm down to 15/12

Appreciate it...Yeah I know what you mean. When I was running 600# coils I had them preloaded way down and had the harshest ride. The 650's made a world of difference. My CV angles have seen better days. I have oem CV's in the garage with all the parts for a rebuild and the boot slide mod. I just been too lazy.

Actually those look better than mine lol. Only looks like 2 fins on the inner boot *might* be rubbing. They say if you can slide a sheet of paper between the fins then you should be okay

Those 2 fins are definitely touching. You can see the clean area around the outer portion where they touch while rotating.

Thanks man. Did you have to preload the coils off the vehicle? With my coils on the vehicle it's too much pressure to get it to turn.

Yeah they were off the truck...I'm lucky enough to have full access to an auto shop that has a wall mounted spring compressor so I actually had the coils off while I adjusted. Tedious process but easy as hell to adjust. Here's a quick clip from my IG https://www.instagram.com/p/BrbFCVwlTef/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

With the King tool it works even better with the King T handle too. Done it many times with more preload. Lift truck till wheels off ground, loosen the allen just enough not a lot, and put some muscle into it.

I did use the tool and it bent it slightly lol. Don't know why it's that hard

Granted it's a 1st gen but on my 04, I find it's really easy to adjust the preload one way or the other if I jack the front of the truck up and take the wheels off completely. Little bit of dry lubricant sprayed on the threads for good measure

Weird, did you ever remove screw too far and turned it? Did at one point you turned it and it got tight all of a sudden?
