I loosened the screw to the point you can see the head, so I'm sure it was good enough. And yes I turned and all of a sudden got really tight. I tried backing it off and lubing it up. Still no luck

Its slight chance that possibly it cross thread jumped a thread and got stuck. I had to fix to customers before. If it looks crooked then yes. But slight chance but could happen. Thats the only thing i can think of . Besides just being super tight.

What are the chances of it cross threading on both sides though? Think it may just be too tight but I'm gonna bring it to a shop and see if they can preload it for me. Thanks for the help brother. Much appreciated

Probably just too tight. I've had it turn a couple threads with almost no resistance and then the next thread takes a lot of my strength.

How would I be able to preload the shock while they are OFF the truck?
I do not have a spring compressor.

I take the top bolt out and remove top plate and put shock upside down in a vise.

My advice is to take it to a shop that does. Preferably one that has a wall mount spring compressor. So much easier than doing it on the vehicle

Personally I'd just have a shop do it with their top of the line spring compressor...shouldn't cost much and it would be quick, without the risk involved with using a rental or cheaper home use compressor

How did you solve your problem? I'm just now coming across the same things I was turning the passenger side collar down and the whole top of the shock was spinning with it I figured maybe it wasnt fully tightened so I spun it another full turn and nothing so I just buttoned it down for now being that its sunday I'll call king tomorrow and see if I can get a answer but figured I'd try searching online while I waited

Might be a little late to the party but there’s the easy way-remove them from the truck and spend $120+ on a floor/ heavy duty spring compressor or the hard way- find a regular spring compressor with a low profile clamp to fit in between the coils, compress the coils with the spring compressors on the truck. The hard method is not recommended and can be deemed unsafe. It only takes about 30/45 minutes to remove, adjust and reinstall one coilover per side. I’ve done it several times.

Just installed my Kings with 600# springs, I pre adjusted the preload to 7 turns over Kings setting. My truck is pretty much stock weight, had Icons stage 1's before but the leaked and needed to be rebuilt so I splurged and invested in my current setup
My Icons had 3.125 in of lift over oem specs also I run All Pro expo leaf packs the matched the ride level
With the Kings installed I now have 3.625 of a lift, making the front ride much higher, I would like to reduce the turn down 2 full revolutions or should I drive for a week or more to see if it will settle down close to my Icons height.....will the settling go that much??

I am hopeful that it will be relatively easier to adjust the coilovers on the truck when adjusting them to less threads showing:fingerscrossed:
