Interesting and thank you for the note on this @b_r_o !

I actually finally got a code to pop up that pointed to 2nd air valve, odd tho because afteer starting and stopping a few times it now is gone again. Enough time that I pulled code P2438 (just an hour ago). A mechanic this past weekend dropped the exhausts and said it made no difference in issue. I will attempt to check the cats but at 130K seems an unlikely culprit.

What did you end up doing to to test the fuel pressure? I'm needing to test my fuel pressure, and I'm in the same boat. I've ordered a male fuel quick connector fitting so I can hook into the the existing female connector and connect into the Tee fitting in the Fuel Pressure Test kit. It won't be in until later in the week and the local parts stores don't have any in store.

I manually tested it with a mechanic who had the part. Then I took it to Toyota, they said nothing was wrong. So then I sold them the truck and bought a 2021. LOL.

    FML.

Stoked to start a new build. But brutal.

Whoa. That's crazy. Typically the air injection valves have a different method of failure and do not fail in the fashion that yours does. Lucky for you it doesn't kill power entirely all the time like it typically does to other folks with later second gens. It did for me when it was starting to fail.

I'm glad you are starting to get to the root of it!

I’m having the same problem!! Belt broke, replaced it and then it was dragging to start replaced the battery and left the parts store she was really strong, now back sluggish. Fuel mileage dropped to 10mpg Every now and then it sounds like a bit of a spark knock.

My situation is a little different. I have an '07 Tacoma V6 2WD, and after lifting it 3 inches, adding aftermarket wheels, and installing bigger tires, I've noticed that the acceleration is not as good as it was before, and the MPG has gone down.
