    Hello guys,

I’m planning to change my differential fluid for my 2007 Tacoma PreRunner. I called the nearby Toyota dealer and they told me my truck doesn’t have limited-slip differential.

After looking at the user manual, I see the recommended oil to use from manufacture is hypoid gear oil API GL-5 SAE 75w90 but I couldn’t find any at nearby AutoZone or online. Most of them will come with limited slip friction included.

My question is, is this the right one? Thank you

Eh yo - just a bit of forum etiquette here... [HELP] tags are reserved for people broken down on the side of the road or in serious situations that need immediate assistance. Yours is a question that could easily be answered by looking in your manual or going to an auto parts store. Putting [HELP] or HELP tags on such posts for attention are not needed.

A search for "Gear Oil" or "Differential Fluid" will give you what you need. Here are a few posts I found that may be of interest...

Welcome to the forum and be sure to leverage the search functionality. Most questions / problems that I encounter I have found that someone else has had a similar question or the same thing happen.

Yes, that gear fluid will work fine. It’s what I first put in my 07 many years ago. I now put Valvoline synthetic cause it comes in a squishy bag and is very convenient to use as you don't need a funnel or pump.

That is fine but I would recommend you buy the squeeze bag 1qt from Valvoline as it will make it easy to pour.

Doesn't hurt to have the LSD additive if your diff doesn't need it, although you are in a way paying for something you are never going to use.

Another option is to see if any big truck shops in your area carry Mobil Delvac 75W90 which comes in more economical gallon size jugs and does not have LSD additive in it.
