HELP! Map/Overhead lights won’t turn on in DOOR pos.

Hi everyone,

I’m new to the forum, looking for some help with my 2013 base double cab 4x4-

I have the dome light set to “Door” position, and it comes on when I open the doors or unlock the truck, but the overhead/map lights in the front do not, is there any way to fix this?

The map lights should not.

Does the front light come on under any conditions?

Have you checked the bulb?

Any chance you've installed LED wizardry backwards?

 

The map lights don't come on with the dome light unless you mod them to.

There's a thread on here somewhere about it, I'll have to find it.

That is correct. The map lights don't come on with the dome lights. This baffled me too. You can mod map the light to come on at the same time as the dome lights though. It's pretty simple. I'll see if I can find a link to it.

I did the mod on my 2014. It makes a nice/big difference in my opinion. The interior is literally dark without it, especially the front seat area. The oem bulb is only 10 watts. Dunno if there is a higher outage bayonet bulb out there that would work, but most likely it would run much hotter and I wouldn't experiment with it and have it melt (or worse) the likely big $$$ dome lamp unit.
