I just meant i have no idea where their assembly plants are, or how many parts are sourced from asian manufacturers.

From what I’ve heard people say the KTM 500 exc is the best dual sport bike.

I might be a little boased here, but i agree. The 350 is also a KILLER bike. It makes less power, but it also makes different power.

I'm a Suzuki fan boy, so my opinion is biased :D. I wanted a DR650, but a buddy of mine gave me a deal on a 2007 DR-Z400S that I just couldn't pass up. After riding it, I have no complaints.
Mine will just be used to putt around town and hopefully a day or two camping.

If you haven’t considered it but a friend of mine upgraded his drz by adding a kickstarter and a fcr39 pumper carb. Both were significant upgrades and bike ran way better with carb upgrade and the kickstart option added value for the obvious reason.

I've been looking for some one parting out an early DR-Z400E for FCR39. I just can't justify paying for a new one. This bike runs fine for what I want out of it. I've read all about the free power mod/3x3 air box/rejet/loc-tite fix/rtv water pump/etc.
My my concern is reliability. I don't really need more power. I just want to fix the little idiosyncrasies of the DRZ........plus I just want the expo look

I don’t think the carb will decrease your reliability any and I would imagine there’s a lot out there on eBay from parted out mx bikes. The extra power from that carb will give you more hit in the power and where it’s really usable. The Kickstarter is just a no brainer unless you’re really confident in the battery and starter. It’s a little work and some parts but good investment for the long term.

No doubt. If I run across one for a good price, I'll pick it up. It's just not a top priority b/c I'm happy with it as is right now :D

I have the Happy-Trails upgraded battery kit, so I'll have a lot more CCA's than the small stock one.
