I might be throwing this in a little late, but here is my advice.

Buy an auto. A glock, an M&P or an XD. Learn to shoot it well, and by using good technique, you will overcome some of the recoil issues you are having. They might not be the most fun or comfortable guns to shoot, but you aren't looking for a range gun, you are looking for one to conceal. I would stress that as a conceal carry gun, it is a combat gun. If it is ever used, you are in a fight for your life, or a loved one's life. You need to pick a gun for that scenario.

If you get too big or too heavy a gun, it will do you no good because you wont want to carry it every day. If you want a good 9mm that will be reliable always, I would suggest a glock 26 with a pierce mag extension. This gives you 11+1 rounds IIRC, and you could keep a glock 17 mag or two around in your truck or wherever that each hold 17 rounds and fit into the glock 26.

    Good luck with your search.

OP: Get a Glock sub-compact, either model 26 (9mm) or 27 (.40S&W), and get the Pearce magazine/grip extensions. The grip extension will make a huge difference for your sight resets / follow-up shots.

The Glock looks pretty to me:

I carry a walther pps 9mm and I love it. The gun is barely over an inch thick and it's available in .40 if 9 mm isn't enough for you it is accurate and reliable I have well ove 2000 rounds through mine and it has never jammed that means alot to me I like this gun but it's just my opinion

my carry wepon is a Colt new agent DOA .... has a match grade barrel and i have installed houge grips and a wilson combat beavertail. it is a great gun to carry small , and it is 45 acp .. plenty of knock down . check it out also a comparable carry wepon is the Kimber RCP both guns have a channell milled in the top of the slide which eliminate having sights to hang up on a draw from you holster .

I am ready to pull the trigger and pretty firm on what gun :D

    I chose Kel-Tec P3AT in .380auto.

Its lightweight, super super easy to conceal and .380 hollow point round packs a good punch. This will be perfect conceal carry weapon! I will be getting the all black model. Gun store by my house has them new in box for $279 so I will end up paying around $310 with tax.

Too thick. The idea is to carry it in pocket holster. The Kel-Tec is unbelievably small and light. Its one of those guns you will forget that you are carrying. Reviews are surprisingly decent for such small and cheap handgun...

More and more I read reviews and comparos, more I am tossed between the Kel-Tec P3AT and Ruger LCP  Some people prefer one over another, for some people one perform better than the other and vice versa... sigh...lol

I'd go with the Ruger. Much better made for just a little more money.

I have shot, owned, trained on a lot of guns. I have read a lot of very valid points from the prior posts. This is what you need to pay attention to. Statistically all instances guns that are used in a defense mode are used at night with in 20 feet. So get a gun with night sights, and one you like. I CCW or conceal carry a Glock 27 b/c I can use an inside the belt hostler hear in PHX and you cant see it under a t-shirt. Larger frames you will need to wear a button down or open carry. Just things to think about..

If you want 100% reliability you gotta go with a wheel gun. With saying that, I still dont carry a wheel gun. i just cant shoot em but i practice malfunctions enough where it wont matter (hopefully). My full size carry weapon is an FNH FNP-45 (.45cal 15+1) my small frame back up Walther P380. I bought my gf one for christmas and loved it so much i bought myself one. It fits my hand very well with no pinky overhang, and i got big hands.

Yesterday I pulled the trigger..lol I got everything I needed together and headed to the gun store. I had about $330 to spend. I was in between Taurus TCP and S & W Sigma. I was set on getting the TCP. Well I took my wife with me and she said; "Why don't you get real mens gun?" So ya Sigma it was. Then I am taking my time looking around and I found used Taurus TP 24/7 Pro in .40 S&W for $280! I held it and fell in love, it fit my hand perfectly and has very nice weight to it! Heinie sights, tactical rail, two mags, external safety and I also found out that it was NRA's handgun of the year in 2005! I was sold!

Now I am waiting for ATF to clear me. They have to verify my immigration status which could be up to 5 days... Dammit hurry up, I want to go shoot this puppy :D

Now get used to it, work on your control, learn how it works and allways follow the safety rules.
I even keep my finger off the trigger on a drill motor I am using from constant firearm training.

How do you secure it at home to keep it away from the childrens?
Many parts go along with firearm ownership.
Let me know when and where you are going and if I can tag along I would be glad to.

I will let you try my REAL MANS GUN!! The very formidable NAA .22MAGNUM.
