Don't remind me. I should have just purchased the pro. Regret that decision. Next one will be.

Of course, but then you just need to decide how much you really want to shell out for a truck.

Test drive them both. They have different suspension. The Sport you have the scoop to look over while driving. The OR has option for long bed.

Partly a looks thing too, both the scoop and the logos/wheels. All you can change.

If really in doubt...buy them both.

Check my 2017 OR build (here in Mass)

For 2nd gens I would totally agree as they both had Bilsteins, just tuned differently.

But on the 3rd gen I'd personally say the Offroad is actually BETTER, for the simple reason that I'd take Bilstein > Hitachi anyday.

Go with the OR ! I went back and forth when i heard about the new 3rd gens back in 2015. I originally went with the OR was actually starting the paper work when the car hauler pulled into the dealership with a sparkling white sport trd 4x4 and that DAM hood scoop ! Well needless to say i bought the Hood scoop and have been modding my truck into an offroad ever since!

Yeah, it's actually a lot of $ for what you get. It's funny because in my head I was thinking I would be willing to pay 37k max for one of these trucks after I drove the OR. Then I saw and drove the Pro. At that point you kind of do the math on 4,000 extra over 5 years and it's like $70 per payment. That's when I said "Aw hell, ya got me Sweers, ya bloodsucker".

I also struggled with the same decision for years. It was the sport at first, then back and forth. After test drives I found the scoop just too annoying. Bigger bang for the buck with the OR. Just wish I could get the premium/tech package with cloth seats on the '18.

    How does the limited compare??

Is it basically a sport without the scoop?

Agree with those saying to test drive them both. I knew I was going to lift mine, so suspension wasn't an issue for me. I don't offroad (apart from light backroads to get to camping and fishing spots), so the locker wasn't an issue for me. We all have different uses for our trucks, so you have to decide what will work for you. For me the sport looked more aesthetically pleasing with the color matched bumper, side mirrors, etc. (the 2nd gen offroad had more chrome [which is also an easy thing to change]). Regardless, the sport is what I had my heart set on and i've been happy ever since. And since you'll be dropping $35-40k, your happiness is what matters :)

I enjoy my sport and its road manners, the moon roof and heated seats ( I don't think the heated seats came on the OR in Canada) and have come to prefer the cosmetics of the Sport to the OR. It strikes me as rugged but classy. That said I don't off road and don't plan to modify, just zip along on highways it's great, do icy roads and snow up north in winter. Do what you can to balance your needs vs wants. Honestly the deal breaker for me in any brand or model was getting an MT, I'm glad Toyota still offers it in multiple trims.
