Same here - when I first got the truck I went with 265/75R16 on the stock wheels (BFG KO2) E rated but I was going off road and wasn't considering MPG. I have since gone up to 285/75R16 on 16X8 DX4 wheels. Keep in mind not all 265/75R16 are exactly the same size they tend to vary somewhat. KO2 are a bit smaller in diameter than several others so they work rather well in terms of no rubbing and I believe they make a C rated version.

If your suspension is stock then the extra 1/2" won't really matter if you're bumping up and down on some dirt road. Last year I got some Cooper at3 the stock size 265/70 R16. Best tires I've ever owned for highway, snow and off-road. I got the stock size because I already had a good set of chains and didn't want to buy new ones for the larger tires. My buddy has the same tires but got the 270 version. It initially feels a bit taller but that quickly goes away and its essentially the same feel. As for gas mileage I'm guessing the difference is nominal, at best. I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever you choose since the differences are pretty small.

Ok so I ordered tires. Made an appointment. Went in today waited in line for 1.5 hours cause of a dumbass in front of me. Then Costco guys tells me they won’t install tires because it’s over 3% the stock size and their policy says they cannot put them on the truck. It’s 3.2% larger. So I tell him 0.2% is like a dick hair taller and put the damn tires on my truck. He says they cannot and refused to install them. So f-me. Then I have to go and wait another 45 minutes in line at membership to get refund. Now I’ve lost a half day dicking around with this. So so angry.
Now I gotta do this shit all over again. Wtf.

Sounds familiar. Costco won't install if the speed rating is different from oem.
I switched to Amazon and Walmart for tires and use local Firestone for the install.

This sucks. It’s a known issue with Costco but I’ve heard managers have some discretion. Whatever, it didn’t help you. So Mrs PondScum gets tires at Costco and I get tires at Discount.

    Yeah.
Sam's Club is the same way, but when I was shopping for 265/75R16 they wouldn't even let me order them online due to being a non-OEM size. Kind of odd that Walmart hasn't batted an eye at that size nor the 285/75R16's I have on there now.

F-Costco - is there a Discount Tire near you? They, at least the one near me, deals with 4X4 people and understands lifts and bigger tires and so on. I was there about two weeks ago to get a free tire rotation and had a big long conversation about my 285/75R16s and what I had done to get them to clear and not rub off road. The tech even showed me his rig.

I like them so far. They ride nice and smooth at highway speeds. They do well on dry/wet pavement and dirt roads. I haven’t seen snow or been off road yet. They’re fairly quiet albeit louder than stock. Not as planted cornering as expected. Lost about 1mpg.

    None in Hawaii.

Ordered 265/70/16 tires. I guess I'll settle for this. Getting them install Sunday. I guess you only can get stock size from Costco.

Maybe I'll look into TRD wheels next time around. Get tires somewhere else.

Can you just get the tires and go down the street to a shop and get them mounted?

I could but there are not a lot of "down the street" tire places.

I'll just get these and be done with it for a few years. Excited for white lettering though...
