I have a stock '25 TRD OR non-hybrid that I'll be putting OEM 18" TRD OR wheels on soon. I really like the way the 18" wheels look on the hybrid TRD OR. This truck is a daily driver with only mild off-roading. I plan to keep the truck stock (max lift would only be the Taco Garage 3/4" reinforcement spacer). Truck will also tow a 3500lb single axle travel trailer with a WDH ~1000 miles/year).

    I'm torn between these sizes:
    265/70r18 SL 116T
    which is 32.6" x 10.7" wide, 45lbs, max 44psi
    Pros: slightly cheaper, taller

    275/65r18 SL 116T which is 32.1" x 11.0" wide, 45lbs, max 50psi
    Pros: higher max PSI, wider

    Towing:
I'm drawn to the 275/65r18 due to the higher max psi. It seems that I gain some towing stability by being able to run a higher pressure if needed.

    Looks:
I love the look of the "33's" on these trucks but I also think I would appreciate the extra .3" width of the slightly smaller 275/65r18. I wonder if I will even notice the difference between 32.6" dia and 32.1" dia (1/4" difference in wheel well)?

    Conclusion:
My gut tells me that I should go with the 275/65r18 due to the PSI.

The 265/70r18 is also about $90 cheaper per set so that is also appealing.

    Questions:
    1. Which tire do you think will get better gas mileage daily driving?
    2. Do you think the 275/65r18 would be better for towing due to the higher max PSI?
    3. Am I overlooking any other important details?
    4. Any other pros or cons?

    Any constructive help is appreciated.

I cant see how a higher tax psi will be a pro....
well atleast I never felt the need to increase tire pressure when towing...

I assume you mean "max" psi. I believe that being able to run a higher pressure when towing may help with stability and sway. I could be wrong and curious what others might think.

telling other what your actually towing may help, as seems like that may be a main deciding factor for you..

these trucks ride like absolute dog shit at 44psi...
like you have 4 rocks for tires...

If you need more than 44 psi, you are over payload and/or hitch weight on the rear tires.
They both have the same load rating. In short, it's a Tacoma.....It wont matter. (Not if you obey the towing capacity for the truck)
I'd be more worried about the trailer tires.

Its a 20' travel trailer. Airing up to 40psi when towing was recommended to me from a very experienced Tacoma owner. Maybe there is no need to go higher. I wonder why the different tires have different max psi.

Trailer tires a D rated. Thanks for your input. I'm beginning to feel like my beliefs about tire pressure was a little skewed.
