Need some good TW advice. Been saving up some extra mod cash and have around $500 or so to spend at this time.

I am a stock 15 Access cab TRD OR 4x4. This is my daily driver, but want to do some light off roading as well

What would you do first, sliders, of lift? please post reasoning if you dont mind.

    Reasons I like sliders....
-obvious off road rocker panel protection
    -door ding protection
-they look way better than tube steps IMO
    - I will probably get SOS bolt ons, they look great and I can pick them up to save on shipping.
-kickout or no kickout? I am leaning toward no kick, but let me know thoughts
    - I will be able to jack up my truck with my high lift finally

    Lift.....
-I wont have enough for new UCA's at this time, so I need to keep it to 2" in hopes of getting good alignment numbers
-for $500 bucks I know I am limited, but leaning towards 5100's up front with either stock off road coils, set on .85, or 1.5, or new 884 / 885 OME springs with 5100's on zero. I know the stock off road coils are progressive, so 1.5 setting may make it a stiff ride.
-rear 1" block, or small 1.5" AAL. I like some rake.
-Will 2" lift be noticeable enough to justify doing it?

Appreciate everyone's insight, love the forum. Thank You

    Some stuff...
If five-hundy is your limit this mod round, I'd knock out the sliders first (with kickout, but that's just me) then save up for the lift since a good lift will run you well north of $500.

save more money then lift it. get sliders when you have an "oh shit" moment. chances are you may not need them at all, pending on where and how you wheel.

im on my second taco, and its taken me 3 yrs to lift it. I will add my winch and bumper back, but I don't plan on wheeling till this winter. then when I do wheel ill see how I do on the trails then decode if sliders are worth it for me. I may wheel/mud ride a few times a year, so its prolly not feasible for me to get any sliders. so if your in the same boat, think about that.

"Door ding protection." Wish I had done the sliders years ago. My truck is a magnet for assholes winging their doors open.

Im with 2011supercoma. Keep saving and buy a good suspension. If you are going to go off road you will be glad you did. Bilstein 5150's are a good on road shock IMO

I am wrestling with the same question- and it depends on what day you catch me on. Have done light off-roading and gotten into something more aggressive than I planned on- I have also done damage to my previous vehicles. I am leaning towards body armor- just not as fun as the lift...but I want to try to keep the truck looking nice and not be the guy wishing he had put them on before the rock rash.

in stock form (minus tires) the truck is fairly capable off road and a lift will not change that, so IMO get protection first. You could add slightly larger better performing off road tires for more ground clearance and traction.

A budget lift will eventually be switched out at a later date anyway.

If you're wheeling in places where you need slider on your stock Taco, I'd lift first. Actually, I'd probably buy armor to protect the important stuff before the lift. The underside of your truck is way more important than your body panels. Do it once, do it right and don't waste money by wrecking the really expensive stuff (front diff, oil pan could lead to engine problems, transmission...)

OP I'm in almost the exact same shoes. Stock '15 O/R, DD, light wheeling, etc. I gave little thought to my first mod. I've driven DDs with cheap lifts, you don't want that. As everyone else said, save money for a nice lift, much more worth it in the long run. I plan to order some sliders from BAMF and pickup myself. Just my $.02, had to chime in after reading your first post it sounded just like me.

    A few things
If you are wanting to wheel it I'd buy a nice set of 265/75/16 tires. They will fit stock and still look good when lifted. You also gain the added off-road ability.

SOS bolt on sliders with kickout FTW!!! i love mine! they look great and are super functional.

and if you want a mild 2in lift thats pretty decent you can do 5100's in all 4 corners, stock coils and a 2in AAL for ~ 400 bucks,

Stacked spacer lift, 22x12 wheels with stretched 33's, tow mirrors, bull nuts.
Good tires should be an option as others have mentioned. Barring that my vote goes to sliders first so you don't have to skimp on your lift.
