So I changed out the CB - no change.

Also found that the U joint at the driveshaft coming out of the transfer case was toast, even though when I grabbed and twisted the driveshaft on the truck, I couldn't detect play in. Off the truck it had all sorts of play in it.

Also did not correct the noise I'm hearing.

    F'ing truck...

    Solved.

Was the front driver side wheel bearing. Displayed no symptoms below 70 mph and could not feel the grinding in it until the bearing was off the truck.

Glad you finally slayed the dragon! Dare I ask what brand of bearing you put in? It makes a bigger difference than many people believe.

    Carquest.

    (for shame, I know).

3 year warranty and was in stock at my local advance auto for $150 after a 20% discount code. We'll see how it does. If it burns out, it's under warranty and I can swap those things in under 40 minutes.

What made you pull the bearing off the truck? Did you decide to just start changing parts?

Pretty much. After replacing the carrier bearing and the toasted U-joint, without improvement on the noise, I knew it was going to be something in the wheel bearing / cv axle / front differential world. Wheel bearing was the easiest one to do. Figured that if it didn't fix it, I would just pull the new bearing off and hold onto it as a spare/eventual replacement.

Can I ask you if the bearing was all one piece or did you have to press the old hub into the new brg? I saw a video where the guy had to press out the old brg from hub. I'm not sure what year he was working on either. Mine is an 05 so I wondering if it is the same. Thanks
