Help me find a knock/grinding noise.

Hey Guys,

2017 TRDOR with 45k on it and some decently hard wheeling. I get a pretty bad grinding/popping noise during change of direction i.e. during turns and such. I can even feel it in my left foot....body mount bushing is my first thought?

What do you think?

 

I had loose skids (tight but loose enough) where it would pop under turning conditions due to the frame flex. The description could be a high possibility of body mount replacement required.

 

First place I would look. However . . . "some decently hard wheeling" may have broken something suspension wise.

Check the cab mount and let us know what you figure out.

check your cv axles

 

CVs appear to be okay, no tears in boot or anything.

 

I've been looking but its a little hard to tell. I'm throwing the truck on a lift tomorrow

 

interesting, ill look at that

 

axles can go bad and the boots will look fine and not have any leaks.. Popping on turns sounds like cv.

 

It’s your front radiator support bushings for sure 99%.

 

It doesn't pop unless I make harder turns that cause body roll. Slow or smooth turns, are silent

 

negative, done did replace those already.....

 

Check your cams

 

I retourqued all my body mounts and radiator mounts this evening...we'll see tomorrow

 

Are you lifted? My coils hit my swaybar sometimes making a knocking sound and I had to get a spacer kit for it

 

I am but this is recent. I still check bc i thought the same thing but no dice

 

it obnoxious bc i know what to look for but all of the stuff that is even remotely obvious seems good

 

SURPRISE!!! a failing steering rack!

 

On a pretty new truck? WTF have you really been doing to it? Too new for that failure unless you’re beating the shit out of it.

You already got the truth...I wheel it decently hard as said in first post and if you look at my build you'll see I'm far from stock. I'm NOT gonna try any of the warranty BS like every other asshat on here tries. You gotta pay to play and pushing 34s around Colorado and Utah ain't easy. It's my doing so I'll put something stronger in there next
