I bought my truck on the 27th, but it's not set to be shipped to another dealer out of state until the 14th/21st, and then my dealer says they have to go send a truck to pick it up? This makes no sense to me as I don't see why it can't just be shipped to them to begin with (considering the lead time and such). Can someone help me understand what is really going on / if the dealer was playing games to try to get me to pay more to reimburse for having to go get the truck from out of state?

I understand negotiation and such, but in this technological time, why couldn't they save the hassle and ship it here instead?

I have a VIN to PM if someone can help me.

Sounds like your dealer found a truck that was being allocated to the other dealer. Someone dropped the ball and didn't get the allocation changed soon enough, now they have to do a dealer swap. You are in no way responsible for this cost. The dealerships have people that do this for a living. The only thing about this is now your new truck will be driven by someone else for how ever many miles, unless they are putting it on a cargo truck. Either way, do not let them make you feel you owe them for this transportation, that is not your responsibility.

Yeah.. they aren't pulling anything over on you. The truck you bought was allocated to a different dealership and they weren't able to trade allocations prior to its shipping being set in stone, for whatever reason. Thus the dealership you are working with is organizing a truck for truck trade to get the one you want.

That's the thing, I ordered it back in September, when it was still set to be sent October 4th/21st. How much notice is "enough" to get it directly allocated to my dealer? They made a point to call someplace (in front of me) to discuss the swap and ensure they get the truck.

If you "Ordered" the truck it should be delivered to your Dealer. Maybe what is going on is that they found another truck in the system that Matches your Order and are going to Dealer Trade for it so that you get it sooner.

This is what happened with my truck. They found the truck I wanted allocated to another dealer that was about a month from being delivered. They had to do a swap with that other dealer and I took delivery on my truck with 260 miles on it already.

Sorry, you're right. I didn't "Order" it. They found inventory set to go to another dealer, but not shipped to them yet. To me it's confusing as to why it can't just be shipped to a different place if it hasn't shipped yet? Also, anyone able to look it up to verify that I even understand what's going on?

Relax a little, or ask these questions to your dealer.

This is normal practice. If you want to know your specific questions regarding your dealers handling of your truck, ask who you bought it from to explain it in detail.

Yeah, dealer trades are no big deal, my last 2 trucks were dealer trades cause they had to find a Manual Trans for me.

some of this, a little of that
    ^^ this

when I bought my 4runner it came from another dealer about 500 miles away and in another state. They "offered" to send someone to drive it back for me, I declined that nice offer and let them truck it up to me. They kept telling me it was going to cost $600 but they were going to pick up the cost, as if I should feel they were doing me a favor by not passing that cost onto me. Don't let them make you feel you are putting them out at all, they do these trades all the time. Downside was it added a few days until a spot on a truck was available but well worth seeing 14 miles on the ODO rather than 514.
