I don’t see why the OP needs ucas or the ecgs bushing if he’s going with 6112/5160s and dakar. And that combo seems fine for what he plans on doing. Obviously it wouldn’t hurt but I bet he’s fine

Even if I use the 5th/6th notch on the 6112s? I think I'd net out at a 2" lift from what everyone is saying.

2 inches is the "make or break" limit of the stock UCAs, every truck seems to be a little different. Some need them just under 2 inches, some say they're getting good alignment numbers with stock UCAs at 2.5 inches.

Budget for them but if he wants to bump up to bigger tires later, he'll likely need new ones.

Yeah I think I'll just get the JBA UCAs as @WRO suggested. Its more about the bushings/diff drops and all that. To answer your question Jay, I guess if I had the issues with the bushing, I would just have to go and get one installed. PITA, but probably not that bad. A guy here locally said he'll charge $50 to do it and he's done it on 15-20 tacos already.

Ahhh alright I gotcha, good point. And sorry I didn’t notice that he’s paying someone to install, so if he has issues, he has to pay labor twice. I was assuming he was doing the work himself. In that case, I guess it would be better safe than sorry.

Hell, this thread has swayed me to possibly install JBA UCAs too. I'm already considering 887 springs now.
    :annoyed:

Fucking TW, I thought I was done with my truck.

Hey guys, I noticed the 6112s kit doesn’t come with the 1/4” lean spaced. It does come on HS’s 5100 kit. Is it not needed on the 6112s?

Read post #69 in this thread again, you offset / stagger the clip settings on the driver and passenger side of the 6112s to compensate for taco lean, you dont do that with 5100s.

You will need that ECGS bushing after a lift. My needle bearing failed twice after I had Toyota put a new one in

It happened to me after wheeling. The bearing doesn’t sit level after a lift. Mine was so bad one of the needles fell out of the bearing. If you just drive your lifted truck on the street you probably won’t need it, but the majority of people who have lifted their trucks seems to need them replaced. The ECGS clamshell bushing part itself is suppose to withstand 400,000 miles.

My CV angles are pretty darn good too

I think @WRO did wheel and almost blew out his 5100s? Could be wrong

    Hey Guys-

So I still haven't pulled the trigger yet. I'm now back to considering the 5100s. Only because of price. I'm just trying to keep costs down as most people do. Is there really a concern with the new OME coils, or was that just bad luck? Also... it seems that the 5100s are still an upgrade from stock regardless. I just don't now if I NEED the 6112s/5160 as I'm about 80/20 road to off-road. Also, is the 8887 coil the way to go? Or 888 for a 2" lift settled? Plus, I might even do the AAL just to save some more money. Dakars are nice but if I can keep the overload in with the AAL, doesn't that keep the same stock capacity and towing abilities? I'm rarely lugging around heavy stuff in the back.

Go back to post #28 and skip the UCAs, that's what you need. Keep it at 2 inches and a 265 tire and you'll be fine.

Are they at least better than stock off-road suspension, though?

Honestly I think not. The ride is tougher and I did some pretty extreme stuff with my stock shocks. The 5100s are pretty stiff and digressively valved.

If I were to get Bilsteins again I wouldn’t get anything less than the 6112’s and 5160’s.

lol Dude I was the exact same, I wanted more more more but realized I don't off road every weekend only every once in a while and its nothing crazy, plus I didn't want to hurt my bank account so much as well. Initailly in the same boat wanted 6112, dakars etc then realized I didn't actually "need" that. 5100s all four 888 coils and 3 HS AAL, rides great, yes 5100s are an upgrade, I did do SPC LR UCAs to insure no bs problems.

My only complaint is I expected more front lift, like I said before I put 285s on ill drop a small spacer in to bump the front and problem should be solved, Seeing all the options and everybody else's trucks is gonna make you want things you wont actually need :spending:

So then its really worth going to the 6112s/5160s for the extra cheddar?
