I guess it could be perspective.

This is why as it was mentioned before, maybe a TRD Sport AC w/ manual would be a good choice.

Yes exactly this. It does seem like complaints have tapered off.

But then I've read that yes software hasn't changed. I'm confused as f**k

Check them both out and decide for yourself.

manuals are fun, but I prefer the comfort of a AT on a truck.

That’s why I urge you to test drive both, in streets and hwy. pay attention. Don’t take a sales person (if possible), just you and the truck.

sit down afterwards, weight pros and cons of each and make the best decision for yourself and your SO.

    good luck!

i had a 2017 DCOR. got rid of it after 2 years and 15,000 miles. technically there isn't anything wrong with the trans.. its just a little unrefined if you ask me... with cruise control on and on the highway it just doesn't seem to be happy in any gear. kinda hunts up and down if you are going over like 65mph. get to a longer incline and its late downshifting and then when it does drops multiple gears and throws the rpm up quite a bit.. it almost acts like the truck is under geared. like stated earlier its probably for better mpg or emissions. i had the high altitude flash done and it improved at first but seemed to revert back to where it was... around town it was fine..

I routinely carry adults in the back of my AC for 100 miles or so and they're still friends. I do a lot of river, ski, backpacking, hiking and bike trips and the full size (6-ft) bed is much nicer than a 5-footer. I also made a slide-in bunk for overnights. So I haven't lamented getting the AC over the DC. There's plenty of room in the back seats (AC) for your puppy. You didn't mention getting a cap but that might make any storage problem moot. You can get Yakima or Thule racks for the cap and put your bikes, kayaks, skis, canoes, roof-top-tent, ladders, etc up there. You could also get an Aerobed and sleep in the cap. Lots of options.

    Bumping this thread

    ADVICE!

So my wife decided actually and she wants Taco TRD OR. I want the ACLB, but she's ok with a DCSB, but I don't want a DCSB because we plan to throw bikes and stuff back there and the longer the bed the better... and no I don't want the DCLB because the wheelbase is loooooooooong and we plan to do some off-roading don't want to end up scraping.

Anyways, we want new. But I was looking at a CPO I found, low mileage (22k miles) and good price. CARFAX looks good since it was a lease. However, it's from PA and that's prime rust belt territory there. PA gets more snow than my area and use more salt on the roads than we do here. I understand that there could be rust on the inside part of the frame even if the outside doesn't show rust. It's a 2 hour drive and not sure if I want to take a ride and go to a high pressure sales pitch. WWYD?

Only a two hour drive? What are you waiting for? That's nothing and well worth the trip. Worst that can happen is it's a shit box and you come home without it. Best thing that can happen is it's a great deal.

I can't believe the amount of people on the various forums that I visit that are affraid to drive 2 sometimes less hours to look at a vehicle. Hell when I was looking for my cutlass I drove 3 hours into md trailer in tow only to get out of the truck, walk around the car and get right back into the truck and drive home with an empty trailer. Drove 3 hours into md to buy a mustang. Turned out to be a nice car. Two hours is nothing. Go look at it. What are you scared of??

Oh and buy the DCLB you'll be happier in the end. Much more useful vehicle. If you were really worried about it being too long and getting hung up you would be looking to build a standard cab short bed. .
