These non stock/lifted springs were on the truck when I purchased my 99 4x4 ext can Tacoma recently. The driver side sags. I can see one cracked leaf. I want to replace them with with an equivalent to maintain the current rake. The part number appears to be a stock toy #. But nothing I’ve seen under the number has the same number of leaves. Or visually looks the same. I could use some guidance. Thanks Kevin

They look like Dakars/OME (old man emu). Owned by ARB now.

Replace the leaf sets on both sides not just one side or one leaf. There is a (one) skinny leaf spring in the picture. It looks like someone customized a leaf pack.

Yeah. I noticed the thin leaf. I thought odd. I looked up the the OMEs and they are the closest match. I’m going with the OMEs. We’ll see. Thanks so much.

When you get the springs in they might be marked with a + or a - or neither. Might get one of each or two that are the same. If you get a set marked this way put the one with the + on the drivers side. It is how they mark if they are plus or minus the spring rate so essentially one spring will be a little stronger than the other.

Also OME is a good company. I installed a set of OME and two years later they were rusted as hell. I called them up and they sent me a new set free of charge and told me to keep the old ones.

Will do. As that is the side that sags now.
Im also hoping it will Improve the ride. The steering seems to wonder depending on the Lean of the road. All other suspension/alignments are good

Yeah, it helps with Taco lean. Battery and fuel tank are on the drivers side. If you still cannot get the lean worked out you can put a 3/8 spacer between the top hat and the top of the coil over on the drivers side front and that normally levels it out.

Add a leaf. Normally this is a 3 leaf progressive pack or just a single leaf you install by taking the spring pack apart and adding above the overload spring. Off road applications like the progressive packs as they allow for more articulation and they normally delete the overload leaf.

Also remember if you do take the springs apart, make sure you clamp them back together (normally I clamp them before I take them apart also). This is important when putting the pin back in the middle because you will strip the threads on the pin if you try and use that alone to pull the spring pack back together. Those threads are normally pretty weak. Or just order a new set of pins with them so you have them laying around. They are normally less than $10 a set. And order you up a tube of super lube from the Amazon.

So as I’m getting ready to order and they show separate part numbers for the left and the right. What’s up with that? Are they not interchangeable?

Don’t know about a 1999. However, 2nd gen the brake line attachment are side specific. Also the + spring should go on the driver side because of the gas tank makes the driver side heavier thus the Taco lean.

How did the install go OP? I normally have to use a ratchet strap to get the driver side rear into the rear shackle. I should have told you that.

Installed. Thanks for everyone’s help. It drives like a new truck. Best I can explain is “it drives with confidence.

On to restoring the rims. . !
