I’m in the market for a vehicle upgrade. Currently driving a 2011 TRD OR with 175k miles. I’m trying to decide what is a better buy when it comes to reliability, holding value, etc. The two trucks I’ve narrowed it down to (right now) are a CPO 2020 TRD OR with 30k miles and a new 2024 Nissan Frontier Pro4x. Both are ~$37k. Looking at them side by side, it really seems like the Pro-4x is a better value but I’d like someone to sway my opinion with facts and logic.

Drive both, see what you like.

The Pro4 will at least have a warranty.

My experiences with Nissan products made after the 90's have not been good.

So almost everyone here is biased to the Tacoma obviously, but it’s hard to say no to that Nissan with a warranty. And I think they’re great looking trucks and still a big step up from any Ford/GM midsize truck. Like mentioned, drive both as much as you can and see if you prefer one more than the other. Also, if I remember correctly, the Frontier has a fair amount more room for the rear seats so keep that in mind if you have kids or carry people around a lot.

More than I need but still not enough.
Was a big fan of Nissan sports cars but I have not driven any of their trucks. I am now a tacoma fanboy but having a full factory warranty on a brand new vehicle goes a long way. Like Rock Lobster said, drive both and see what you think.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions so far, I’ll be going to test drive them on Thursday hopefully.

Do you not want a 4th gen?

I'd go with the Nissan here over the CPO Frontier. New vs used for the same price that's an easy one. 5-6 from now I can't see gas midsize trucks holding their value that far out.

3rd Gen over 4th Gen any day but I'd get the Pro4x. Nissan does disappoint on the Pro4x on some of the features, IMO.

You gotta drive both and that should be the deciding factor for you.

What's wrong with the 2nd gen? Should be able to get another 100k out of it. What is forcing your hand? If you want reliability and holding value, you already have it.
