Help me! My paint isn’t matching 1G3

Saw this at my dealer today.... made me angry but confirmed lol

 

You aren't the first that has used both those colors thinking it was the same at MGM, and you won't be the last. Don't feel too bad. It happens. If it were me, I would just keep the gray one and repaint it black. Seen black grill surrounds on MGM and it looks pretty good.

 

Your truck is a sport correct? I could have sworn all the sports cam with color matched grill, mirrors and bumpers.

 

it is and should have a color matched grill but previous owner swapped to chrome for some reason

 

When I had a wing on my Whiteout FRS painted, I took them the color code. They told me they needed the car and then showed me that the color code actually has three different variants, all VERY different in color. There were three different color swatches for the same paint code

 

I got one price to paint today for $125....
New dealer complete is $212

PN doesn’t match what dealer had

 

Get your current one painted. See if you can pull something painted off your truck. Even off the factory, bumpers tend to not match. This way they can tint it to your specific truck.

Colors change over time. The clear “dies” and it will change how the paint looks. This is the reason most body shops blend. If they paint a hood, for example, they also fade into the fenders. It’s a little more work for them, but the color transition isn’t a finite line. Saves them from having to repaint it

I priced mine out to color match at a few shops. The price varied from 125 to over 200 at a few good body shops. The less expensive place had a paint mixing room and he brought out the color cards showing me the dozen different shades of MGM. It’s a good price but I am not surprised by it either.

 

exactly. I paid $225 here in San Diego. Think of those tiny little wings on the Lexus RC sports cars....now make it smaller to fit an FRS.

 

No, that 53100-04471 is the Argent color, that is supposedly used on the base models (reg cab, utility Access Cab, etc).

 

I saw it say argent in top of label and I was skeptical

I just text the body shop owner.... enough is enough.

I picked up my new AR9 today and at least it came in the right color!!!
