I'm tempted to say Tundra, but I'd wait for a redesign. They are solid trucks but have needed an upgrade for a while But it should be soon, I keep hearing 2021. If it has to be Tundra I'd buy used, but 2016 or newer.

If not Toyota I like Ford just fine. My 2007 Tacoma just got too small and we bought a 2014 F150 Supercab used in 2016 and kept the Tacoma. I looked hard at Tundra then but there were no used ones equipped the way I wanted it. If you go full size you want the 36-38 gallon fuel tank. Trust me on that. The big tank not being an option on used Tundras is the primary reason I went with Ford.

My Ford only burns 1 more MPG than my Tacoma, but the big tank is great, especially if towing and even when not I can choose where I WANT to buy gas, not where I NEED to buy gas. I can bypass areas where gas is expensive and fill up where it's cheap.

Mine has the 5.0 and it has been perfect for 87,000 miles so far. But there is nothing at all wrong with the turbo engines. I'm really liking the 2.7. It will out run both the 3.5 and the 5.0. If you choose the right gear ratio will tow almost 8000 lbs, and gets better fuel mileage than Tacoma. It is also the least expensive option. You can get a 4X4 Supercab XLT with the 2.7 right around $40K.

If I had to get a tundra it would def be a 2016 - I believe 2017 is when they added TSS & I hear thats a pain in the ass. Toyota Safety Sense btw not Toyota Sports Series. Maybe before 2017 it was an addon package?

7 months old. Its a good idea to see it when its just stock & needs a bath. The interior is nice, but it is a Dodge.

For example see pic below, the pic is 2wd but 4x4 was priced at $44k. The truck she bought was actually marked down to $47k but negotiated down further to $44k. It’s got everything, adjustable air ride, panoramic moon roof, power steps...

I’ve had a newer F150 w/3.5 eco boost and still have a 18 tundra. F150 drives better than the tundra and has alot more tech. Anyone who dogs the ecoboost probably hasn’t drove one, they tow great, and are sneaky fast. Mpg are better than tundra by a small margin unless towing then 3.5 is actually worse. By 40k miles ford killed a trans and was stranded due to a bad throttle body, tundra has been flawless other than annoyingly hard to change oil on. I wrench in all my vehicles myself and usually keep them along time. F150 was a nice truck but it always had me thinking it was going to shit bed after 100k. I also have a f350 with close to 300k miles on the 7.3 diesel that I will keep forever

The Tundra is a great truck overall but because it is based on an older platform its safety ratings lag behind the others. IIHS is a good source for safety ratings.

That makes sense. I guess expect when the new tundra comes out it will crush the records

Word is that new federal standards require mpg of at least 30, hence the rumored twin turbo v6 with hybrid option.

Congrats, let’s see how long you can resist modding it. I didn’t even last a day before debadge, took off the mud flaps, weathertech mats , tint appt and ordering running boards
