Residency because all of my family is here and I have full custody of my 4yo. That makes schooling/work a bit difficult and joining a vol. fire dept. impossible.

    And bump for more votes!

A former college roommate of mine always wanted to be a volunteer firefighter. He moved to WI to work on a newspaper but then took a course and got his firefighter certs. He now works in a medium-sized town up there somewhere and has a blast.

I've been to WI a few times -- it's a pretty state. Someone once said that they have more deer than people. A WI F&G report states, "Fall deer densities in 2010 varied from 7 to more than 100 deer per square mile of deer range." -- that's just downright amazing compared to population densities on the Plains.

Edit: We didn't have them when I was in EMS got the state now has EMS tags, which probably makes parking your civilian truck at a scene a lot easier to do. Maybe WI has firefighter tags?

Everything is better in Wyoming. However, don't make the tags too hard to figure out -- some people have a tendency to drive too close while trying to figure out a tag or bumper sticker.

I saw one yesterday that said "TAGURIT" and judging from the condition of the front part of the car he wasn't joking.
