    Ike,
Thanks for the thoughtful post! I think I am going to opt for the .22 to keep the noise down and deliver a few more ft-lbs. Anything longer than 30m and I am going to grab my .22LR.

I really love some of the precharged rifles I am finding and can definitely imagine plunking down the change to buy one... someday. I will go for a break action 1st to determine if air rifling is for me... I'm not sure that I want to spend $800 on a pimp airgun instead of another AR, 1911, or eotech!

    Cheers.

The PCP benjamin discovery gets awesome reviews and its only $250. But you do have to get a pump for it. PCP might not be the best for a survival/backwoods tool.
I shoot an RWS Model 48 which I've had for around 15 years. Its a side lever spring piston gun so the barrel/scope won't be miss aligned after every shot like a break barrel. It shoots as good now as it did when it was new. The spring piston guns are very reliable and powerful but they are heavy.

Here is a pic of my RWS 48 in its current form.

if you have a .22, buy whats called CB caps. they are subsonic (dont break sound barrier = low noise) packs a great punch. thats what i use for hunting small game

...A nice little tack driver you have there. That is clean for a break in. Was that shot with open or scoped sights? Is that lonely hole at the bottom a flier? Are the 3 in the 10 the final 3 shots after an adjustment?

That group was shot with a scope. The lonely hole was the first shot and everything was adjusted from there. Yes the final 3 where after adjustment. I have since adjusted the trigger pull and it shoots an even tighter group.

For the money and quality of the NP Trail its hard to beat. Like I posted earlier, It's a heavy rifle but it performs well!

I have the Benjamin Marauder. Just pump it back up with a bike pump. A 3000 PSI bike pump. I have whacked squirrels at 60 yards and left gaping holes in their heads with the .22 version. All you hear is a ping when it goes off. You can stop that with a depinger.

    http://www.pyramydair.com/p/Benjamin-Marauder-air-rifle.shtml

Benjamin is the old crosman line. Crosman was sold to the chinese and they kept there patents on some guns. Still American made.

I have a .22 Condor rifle. shes pretty powerfull like a .22 rimfire, its a takedown rifle easy to carry around and the best part is that you can mod the shit out of it like our trucks : )

I like the Condor but man are they expensive. I think the next PCP I buy is going to be a tuned Marauder.

The Condor's interesting enough, but what does it do better than a .22?

    Check out my sig...
Ive had the Benjamin/Sheridan (same one someone posted a pic of earlier) and RWS48 but I loved my Beeman Vulcan II/III (cant remember which it was) the best. My dad had a Beeman R1 that vibrated so bad screws were coming loose and he needed to loctite them in place. Also had a Beeman P1 Magnum - fun but I dint like it as much. All were in .177.The vulcan w/ a scope was best - TACK DRIVER!!!! 3 pellets into a single hole at 30 yrds. Best shot I've ever had was about 50 yards in high wind. Aimed about 2' high and 2.5' left. 1 shot, one kill. God I wish I was in the 7th grade again!Went "hunting" with it by the cornfields where I used to live: chickens, bull frogs, doves, rice birds (Dont know what you call them on the mainland - kinda like finches). Tried head shots on ducks but for some reason pellets werent strong enough to kill em.
