    Hello, friends

A kid in my town is selling a 2003 access cab 4x4 with 155,xxx and a V6; it comes super-charged and with a differential lock. It's also got a camper shell and BFG 33's. Very clean truck and I've had my eye on it for a few years now and it's finally come onto the market! :woot:

My question is, what is it worth?

He's asking 12k, but I can get it for a little lower than that, I'm sure. I was just trying to get a good ballpark estimate from TW

Good. I'm thinking I can get it for around 10 or 11k, but I'm not even mad at the 12k price tag...I was just wanting some reassurance!

That is very similar to mine. Mine is 2003 4x4 3.4, same color. I have a manual trans, no super charger, no cap, stock tire size, and more miles. I paid $8900 18 months ago.

I can't help with the info you asked for. But I'll toss you an attaboy for asking before you buy. Way too many show up with pictures of what they just bought asking 'did I get a good deal?'.

I would suggest a complete pre purchase inspection from a highly rated independent mechanic, and include a compression/leakdown test. While it may be around $100 or so, you may find things that make you walk, you may find things that give you bargaining power, or you may find you have the gem of the decade.

    Nice looking in pictures!

Very true. Being that I have an '01, I know the basics to look for, but a compression test definitely wouldn't hurt. Also, I know the guy pretty well, so if he sells me a lemon, I can always sick the dogs after him lol

    Yours: $8900
    Used supercharger: $2000
    Used Camper shell: $300
    Used BFG's: $500

    Total: $11,700....pretty dang close!

Ah, he's not an idiot or anything. He's a cop, so he does have SOME sense lol. I'm going to ask him to run it over the weekend just to be sure though.

just pay more attention to testing the 4wd and locking features as these are the ones most likely to fail first, lus check for drivetrain vibrations on the road where you can feel them to be sure there are not alignment issues he never addressed just so you know if there are minor things like that that you will need to fix.

it seams he is asking fair book value for it and as long as it was well maintained you should have no issues but I assume you do know to check for frame rust and see if the truck has any "northern" history in snow country and if it has been given the dealer inspections to keep up the frame warranty

I know...the first thing I'm going to do is travel to North Ga and get @dwalden2 stuck. Between my friends here in Jackson and him, I've never felt like more of a bitch for owning a PreRuner haha
