It is hard to capture the sound but I think I might have done just that.

Other than under the hood I have no idea where it is coming from. Sounds like when a diesel is idling.

Happens sometimes when I push on the gas pedal, so whenever I push it just right.

Should I be worried. Technician said the sounds he hears are nothing to worry about. I kept replaying the same metallic diesel idling type noise to him. He shrugged it off.

Listen @ about 8 seconds mark.

    Thanks

Plain and simple the recording sucks.

Typically the cat heat shields are the first metallic noise that starts to show on these trucks.

Crawl under there and take a look. Hit the exhaust with your palm hard or a rubber mallet to see if you hear anything.

Yes I know the recording sucks. I had to convert from WAV to MP3 in order to meet the minimum memory size. Also it is from my phone sitting on the floor on the drivers side. So it is really hard to isolate the sound. I will try again.

Never drove a Taco before. Never driven a Toyota before. All these noises are not something I am familiar with.

Too much it is "normal" keeps getting said.

I use mobil1. Tech said use heavier weight oil because it is valve noise.

I have a weird rattling sound, it's only when the truck is accelerating or going up a slight hill around 30 mph. And it's intermittent, so it's hard to point out.
