i am Installing @Mobtown Offroad s rear bumper. I have it on the truck and cannot get it adjusted right. The tailgate is hitting and its taking paint off of my bedsides. Suggestions? I read a both on mobtowns bumper thread but still cannot figure it out.

Looks like you might need to loosen all the bolts and pull it back a half an inch or so?

Just look at all the adjustments. If there's nothing else that allows movement than the bumper is wrong. Shit moves a lot when u weld, maybe it was taken off the highway too quickly while it was still hot, who knows. Contact mobtown

Maybe slot the holes a bit. An 1/8" at the bolts might get you 1/2" adjustment at the bumper.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
Might want to cover those body panels with masking tape to protect the paint while you work to get it adjusted.

Bed is in alignment. I think holes may be off ever so slightly. Mobtown did get back this am but i had already called it quits and just bolted it down. My paint is already pretty well fucked. Im gonna call them today to get some instructions and relay that to my offroad shop. My truck is going in for ECGS tomorrow and I honestly just dont want to deal with it anymore

My new truck bed was so out of alignment, the shell couldnt match up with the cab by 1.5 inches on one side. I was thinking (hoping) yours may be set too far back or something, that eould have been a easy fix. If there was any room to move it forward, that may help. In your photos it looks like one side is hitting the bumper more than the other- are you sure the bed is not off a bit?
Good luck with that, wish we could help more than couch coach it.

so after reading this i went out to my truck and looked at the bed. it doe appear that the passenger side sits about 1/8" - 1/4" further back that the driver which would allow me to clear the bedside. the problem still exists that the tailgate is going to hit regardless. I shot an email off to Joe at Mobtown just now to try to figure out a course of action so I can get this resolved!

By how much height does the tailgate hit the bumper? (How much higher should the tailgate be to clear it?)

You will get the best fix idea from Joe at Mobtown, so this idea may be way off, but maybe the lack of better tolerance in mounting the bed to the frame during manufacturing is the problem. So one way to fix it might be to add spacers between the bed and frame to lift the tailgate a bit, but that would be a last resort effort, I would think. I would not try to widen the bumper mount holes as someone suggested - that would not be a good fix at all as the bumper is such a structural part of the frame and may move if you tow something or lift the truck from it.

One issue our beds do have is that some members have had the plastic parts of the bed mount wear out against the frame, and have resorted to putting plastic spacers to fix the bed mount, so doing that to raise your bed a bit to get that 1/4” clearance may be feasible. Anyways, please share your solution, it will be a help to others here too.

i have been emailing joe back and forth today and he has been super responsive. I plan on realigning the bed this weekend to alleviate the bedside rubbing issue, but it'll be a PIA because i will need to pull my drawers out to do so. i really DO NOT want to add any sort of spacers. I will play around with it some more and also take any suggestions i get from joe. Mobtown its taking it from here!
