OK, so I finally decided to change the cabin filter in my truck. I didn’t have any problems getting to it and replacing it. But things went bad when I tried putting the glove box back together.
Problem #1: Couldn't get the damper to stay on. So I think no big deal. I’ll just wont put it back on for now.
Problem #2: Once I shut the glove box it won’t open at all.
I was thinking something got jammed in the latch but I can pry it open far enough that it doesn’t look like that’s the problem. It looks like it might be setting a little higher than normal (because it’s kind of jammed under the upper part of dash. So I’m thinking it might not be snapped into the bottom hinge point correctly. The handle is stuck in the open position and is pretty much useless.

Guess the reason for my post here is to see if anyone has any suggestions on what I should or can do to get it open. I don’t have access to any dynamite, so that’s not an option. Besides I would like to find a way to open it and put it back so that it’s still usable and looks like it should.

Just try to manipulate it with your hands. Maybe from underneith. The p[lastic is soft, so useing any tools may scare it.

Have you tried reaching under and forceing it on to the hinges. If that doesn't work I say punch it and show its who's boss. You can't really break anything by giving it a good shove, might just leave some scratches.

I would give it a good scolding! Pretend your Sean Connery and smack it like a bitch! Actually, i have had mine jam up on that bottom hinge cause I did not get it all the way on. I wouls give it a little pull from underneith and pull down, see if you can get it on the hinge.

Thanks, for all the replies. Good and bad. But I finally got it oppen last night. When I originally put it back on I must not have got it snapped in one of the hinge points which is what jammed it up. Then at some point probably while I was trying to "show it who was boss". I mush have broke the handle.
Got it released by removing the box off the hinges on the bottom. Then reaching in the box to the 2 screws to remove the handle. It was a bitch but its off now and the only problem I am going to have now is trying to get a new handle. Hate to see what the stealership will want for it.

Handle is about $20 at the dealer, I'm dealing with a similar issue except mine is stuck shut after changing the handle (the original one was getting rattly/noisy), it was working fine but the metal rod that actuates the latch must have popped out... meh

My latch is not working so mine is still stuck shut... any suggestions?

I tried prying the hinge loose along the bottom but am having a hard time seeing how that will work if the latch is closed. Has anyone actually done this?
