any help would be appreciated before i call stealership. My truck got swept up in the flood with me in it. i tried to "ford" through , couldn't get it opened up enough to keep going it died when the water came up over the hood. it was actually floating for awhile. Now it wont start no water in the oil, all service lights come on when key turns on. wondering if it just needs to dry out or did it go into anti-theft mode and if so how do i reset it. Before any of you "do a search" guys respond i'm doing this from my phone because i have no power and wont have for a few days so keep any comments that aren't helpful to yourself.

Sorry to hear that. Have no real advice of any value. I've never had this occur. I wish you the best. There are some real expert wrench-turners on here that know our trucks inside and out. Hopefully someone will chime in. Good luck!

posting here even though it doesnt belong cause i need help. My truck floated away yesterday now it wont start. I got swept up in a flash flood and the truck stalled now it wont start. Not sure if it just needs to dry or if it went into anti-theft mode as it was actually still floating as i was sitting on the roof with the keys in my pocket. there's no water in the engine i checked that already. all insturment service lights come on when i try to start it and it wont turn over. dont tell me to do a search i have to post from my phone because i wont have power for days. thanks in advance for any advice.

    bummer.

Wait for it to dry out. Open up the engine block and make sure the cylinders are dry. Hope it starts when you close it back up.

I don't think most thieves try and sail away with trucks, so not sure why that'd put it in "anti-theft" mode (Is that even real?)

    Good luck.

So the truck completely floated away, but you are confident that no water got to the motor?

How are you basing the no water in the oil? What happens when you try to start it, does it attempt to turn over? Or does it sound like a bad starter. If you have not changed the oil, I would not attempt to start again until that is completed. The check for water pooled in any electrical boxes.

Call insurance...seems like a write off to me....my 06 Matrix took on floodwater up to the ignition switch...they gave me a check.

Adjuster told me any water half way up the firewall is an automatic "write off"

Sorry for your loss...glad you are OK

Sounds like the engine is "Hydro-Locked". Most likely since water does not compress there is a bent or broken connecting rod in the engine. Insurance will cover the claim.

I would not bother trying to fix it. The electrical connections are not water proof. your wireing harness might start to corrode from the inside out. Your might get it running and run in to further problems down the road caused by the flood.
