    Hey All

I just bought a set of Dick Cepek FC-II's and they are 285/75/16s. I put my front wheel on first to verify they would fit and when I turn the wheel to the extreme it rubs on the inner fender. I have a 3" OME lift. I was expecting no problems. What do I do???

Help a fellow Tacoma lover out!!

I heard something about adjusting the alignment to get some additional space. Would that work?

What is this mod you speak of?

I am a little worried that the tire is gonna rub if I hit a bump while in an extreme turn.

you clearly did zero research if you thought you could run 285's and not rub without trimming.

Bust out the hammer and sawzall and go for it. Also, you are rubbing at normal ride height. You probably should get the suspension fully stuffed and check again with the wheels turned. You'll probably have more to trim.

I am running 3" OME lift with 881s. Do think I will need more than that?

I am a bit concerned that even after I eliminate the rubbing I have now, I could still hit the tire if I off road.

If I add a spacer to the coil over, I am worried about the extreme it will put on my CV. I do have the 1" diff drop installed as well.

    Thanks

OK well 881's alone will not give you 3" of lift in the front, 2" at best. Get the 10mm spacer from Wheelers or Toytec and do the pinch weld mod. Start searching.

Sorry, but this topic has been covered ad nauseam.

I appreciate the advice. But since I don't have 35" wheels, I am thinking that the sawzall mod is a little extreme. I think I first try the pinch mod and see where that gets me.

I have the black fender flares and I don't want to cut into them or remove them to go to the extreme of the mod in the thread you suggest.

When I talked to Toytec originally, they told me that the kit I was receiving would provide a 3" lift in front and back. Are you telling me that is not really true?

Thanks again for entertaining the noob.

881's ALONE will not net you 3" of lift. If you ADD a top plate spacer to the coil over you will get another .5-1.0" of lift.

The silver disc above the coil spring in the picture below.

Do you currently have a top plate spacer on your truck

These trucks were engineered for smaller tires, if you want to run bigger ones you will have to do some engineering of your own to make it work. There are a bunch of examples of how people have dealt with clearancing tires, they will all require some modification to the fenders, flares and possibly frame...depending on the size of tire.

3" Toytec spacers, Bilstein 5100s in the back with add a leaf and overloads removed.
I had a 2 or 2.5 inch spacer in mine with 285s and only rubbed on the frame at full lock.

I'm running a 33x10.5x15 with 881 and top plate spacers. My tires clear with plenty of room. I also realize my 33" is slightly skinnier than your 285.
