I was on the stock bearings until 165k.

I swapped em out. they are koyo bearings and they came pressed with the hub.

All looks good. very minimal play on drive shaft at the carrier bearing that goes to the rear axle.

a lot of pressure to move it maybe less than 1/2 inch? u joints don’t have zerks and no rips in boots.

Alright guys, think the case is closed.

I don't hear the sound anymore, but I wanted to confirm.

Originally I thought it was the driver side bearing, put the old driver side bearing back on with new bearing still on passenger - no whum whum. Ruled out that old bearing.

Put old passenger bearing back on with new bearing on driver side, heard the sound coming from driver...swerve test sound went away turning right - made no sense.

Switched the old passenger bearing to the driver side, and now the sound appeared like it came from the passenger side - swerve test and the sound went way when turning left - makes even less sense.

Both new bearings are back on with a full day of driving and no sound.

    What a goose chase.

I would definitely start with the wheel bearings. Super easy install if you wanted to do it yourself.

That or installation error, like not tightening axle nut to proper spec (173 ft lbs).

Definitely possible. I've changed a good number of bearings with no issues.

Used the instructions pdf that the guy who sells wheel hub/bearing on here provided to confirm.
