Hello all, I'm hoping someone will have advice for this issue...

Recently bought a used 2017 Tacoma SR from a dealership here in north Texas,
the truck only came with one ignition key and my goal is to end up with 3 working
keys. I'm a cheap SOB so going to the Stealership is out of the question.
I'm the owner of an XTool D9 diagnostic computer so programming new keys
is not an issue for me. As you can see in the picture, the key shaft is an H type
so I ordered a pair of them off Amazon from a vendor I've purchased keys from
in the past with 100% satisfaction. I had some difficulty finding someone to cut
the keys, but finally was able to get it done and the keys just needed to be added to
    the ECU.
Using my D9, I went through the required steps to get the new key working and the
new key would now remotely lock and unlock the doors, set off the panic alarm AND
the key worked in the ignition to start the truck. I'm done right?

Not so fast Dave! I went out the next morning to do some errands and they new key
was used by me to gain access to the cab (no issues), but when inserting the key
in the ignition, the motor fired up and then promptly stalled and then refused to fire
    after the first attempt!

    WTF? It worked yesterday?
I went back into the house, got my "master" key and proceeded to run my errands.
arriving back to the house, I took the XTool and keys back out to the truck and thought
I had made a mistake of some kind when programming the new key. The first thing I
did was to delete the new key from the ECU and started over from scratch, once again
programming the new key... It was used to start the engine but it did not want to idle,
I gave it some extra gas to raise the idle but as soon as I took my foot off the pedal
    the engine just stalls.

I'm 67 years old and have been working on cars almost my entire life, and I searched previous posts but could not find anything like I'm seeing... HELP

I can't really add much here but I added keys to my 2020 sr5 with H key too. I got a new remote one and a chip key with no remote. I'm totally amateur but other than getting a local locksmith to cut the keys I had no problem with the keys I got from Tom's Key with the rental programmer.

Deleting the key and trying to restore it may be an issue. I think used keys that were program to other vehicles could be seen as invalid. You could have created that situation by doing that. I'm not an expert though. I just know when I programed my keys the instructions were very clear to do it exactly for a reason.
