I installed a Kenwood x997 in my 2007 toyota tacoma access cab and the rear speakers don't work. I have double and triple checked the wiring and everything is wired correctly.

Something i've noticed, when I pull out the head unit and re-establish the rear speaker connection harness the rear speakers work until the car is turned off.

Please help if anyone knows anything I can try!

Did you get an ebay wiring harness? Maybe its just built with a bad connector. Did you solder or crimp?
