Hi All, I've been going through these threads with no luck finding a straight answer. So here is my question.

I have a 2010 Tacoma, I'm looking to buy new tires. I will be putting a 3" lift on it before I get new tires but I'm keeping the stock 16" rims for now. So I want to find out what the biggest size I can go without any rubbing issues?

Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the Link, Yeah I've heard about the backspacing issue. Looks like 265/75/16 are about as big as you can go without buying new rims with the proper backspacing.

Go get the rims...you'll be happier you did. Then you go 265/70 17 on the tires. Zero power loss.

Satoshi'd grill. blacked out badges. aftermarket sound system. De-chromed and color matched. OME 885s + Dakars with 3rd leaf removed. LR UCAs. Scs stealth 6 with 285 duratracs. BAMF sliders

265/70/17 is virtually the same size as 265/75/16. The reason why are finding info on different backspacing is for wider tires. 4.5 backspacing is good for 285/75/16 because the tire is to wide and will rub the upper control arms with the stock wheels, so you need a wheel that pushes the tire out farther from the UCA. You do not need new wheels, you can use spacers for the same result. Also look into 255/85/16, you will not need new wheels for this size and it looks great on a 3" lift. There may be some minimal rubbing with this size. If you go with 17" wheels you have a few more options like 275/70/17 or 255/75/17

Thanks, I will look into the spacers and see what I can find.
