    Hi everyone :) I have a 2nd Gen Tacoma, 2015 TRD Off-Road with about 77k.

Got the oil changed recently and the next morning noticed a pronounced rumbling/vibrating sound that seemed to be coming from the engine compartment. Particularly noticeable when in drive with foot on the brake or when moving forward slowly.

Goes away for the most part once the engine is fully warmed up and you're driving around normally. Haven't noticed anything else wrong with the truck.

Here is a link to a video I took recording the sound...
it becomes particularly noticeable around 1:45 and again around 2:35 (if you don't want to sit through the whole thing haha)

    https://photos.app.goo.gl/yYTu9z6nC5cUxeAQA

Anyone else experience this, or any ideas what it might be?

I saw some threads describing vibrating from the air intake where it goes into the fender, but I didn't think that issue extended all the way to 2015's...

    Thanks in advance!

Check your heat shields on the exhaust system maybe one is loose.
Where did you find that startup image for your radio?, that's sweet.

Thanks! It definitely sounds like it's coming from the engine bay but I could be wrong. I will check that.
I actually don't remember where I got the image for the radio o_O but I think I still have it on the thumb drive, I can send it if you want it

Thank's for the image, if you could get someone to record under the hood when the noise is occuring it would help narrow it down better.

Agreed, and I wanted to do that, but unfortunately every time I stopped and put it in park the noise stopped  maybe that will be a clue for someone here that is smarter than me.

My air intake rattles occasionally. I loosen the clamp on the filter box then twist the hose clockwise till it's tight then retighten the clamp.

This will effectively push the air intake down onto the metal where it passes through to be under the fender.

I listened to it but wasn't able to pick it out. In drive, at a red light, I sometimes hear a rattling sound under the hood that goes away in neutral or when I step on the gas. When crawling asking it'll sometimes rattle as well.

Might they have removed your skid plate to drain the oil then didn't tighten the bolts when reinstalling?? OR, maybe stripped one of the bolts and your skid is vibrating??

Thanks... Ill check that but I don't think so. The skid plate has a cutout to let you drain the oil without removing it. And if it was the skid plate I don't think the rattle/vibration would stop once the vehicle was hot. I'll crawl under in the morning though and double check haha

I think it may be where your intake passes through the fender. Vibrating at the right frequency is causing a rattle. Try packing a rag or some foam around it and see if it stops. I have the same thing but I haven't figured out a permanent solution.

OK! Interesting. I'll definitely double check that then, it's useful to know that you also have a 2015 and have that problem. I did a little reading on it and I THOUGHT Toyota rectified it with a TSB all the way back in 07-09 range....

I realize that but maybe they didn't.

I can’t load your video but is this sound similar to yours? Listen closely. This is my truck and it’s gotten way louder ever since I uploaded this

Somewhat similar, yours seems more pronounced and "steady" though...

Just like yours, it goes away if I shift from D to N and back to D, or I let go of the brakes and keep driving

And I'm guessing you're not sure about the source of the sound either?
