    Hi everyone,

I am new here. Long time lurker. Had my 1st gen tacoma since 97'. Got lots of info during that time. Now I just bought a barely used 2013 Tacoma TRD sport. With a 3" lift and a TRD supercharger 4.0L and Airaid intake.

My question is I am knew to the Supercharged way of life. And although I am loving it. I am not sure if it's running right. When starting from a stand still the power seems weak like it's struggling to get going. I have to hit the gas hard to get it moving. And while doing that sometimes it seems like it isn't shifting like it should. As I said, I am new to this. And expect to not know everything out front. So any help will be appreciated. I live in Salt Lake if that helps any.

I'm not sure how to explain my issue. But it's as if it's starting in second gear when it's in first. And I have to step on the gas to get it moving. Please excuses stupidity when it comes to this.

Thanks so much for the help. Never have driven a Supercharged Tacoma before so i am not sure how they are supposed to run. However, I read many posts on here that make it sound as if there should be power at the get go, on the low end.

Power should be felt immediately, so something is going on with yours... dealership may help resolve the issue.

Plan on taking it to the dealer on Tuesday. One other question I have is should I take off the CAI and put back on the stock? Will they try to blame the issue on the aftermarket CAI?

I would... don't give them any reason to blame you somehow

im X2 with the dealers, they weasel their way out of the smallest and biggest things. Every time i had them try and warranty something, it was an uphill battle and the answer being no, or, "sure well do the tsb," and then replace it without the updated part, essentially replacing it with the same damn leaf springs!!!! Then refuse to order the other part because the springs aren't defective….

    end rant.

Haha I'm not saying that being weary isn't warranted. I also obviously misread the OP because I thought he had a 97 S/C and didn't have the knowledge to fix it which would mean that it would be well out of warranty anyway. I am guessing either fuel delivery, spark, or maybe vacuum issue... I can probably talk the OP though it though. PM sent

Also: I HATE DEALERS so I know what you're talking about.

It was already on the truck when I purchased it. It's a Airaid CAI. What I do know is that it was on before the SC was installed. Cause the receipt for the SC install from the dealer that the seller gave me states "Advise, vehicle is equipped with after market (airaid) CAI system and fuel trim is sitting at 12% (idle) / 8% (2.5K). May cause future FUEL TRIM codes.

I have yet to have any codes come up. But wonder if they will try to blame it on the intake.

Does having a after market CAI void the warranty?

The thing that really gets under my skin is that before I bought the vehicle I took it to the same dealer for a buyer inspection. They told me that all was fine. However, I know they didn't test drive it. So here I am.

I would put it (air box) back to stock before you take the truck to the dealer, to see if it changes the performance & so the dealer can't blame the AirRaid CAI.

Def go back to stock if ya can on the intake.

    Clean MAF sensor

Maybe there's an issue with the bypass valve if those dont help.

As for shifting, maybe there was a glitch with the reflash

I got the Airaid CAI on my TRD Supercharger and it runs perfect. Like others said I would put the stock intake back on.

I appreciate all the help. The downside that I can see with going back to stock is that the Air conditioning line was moved when this was installed. So I am not sure if I should move that back to whre it was. Otherwise they would know something was installed.

So after 3.5 hours last night of taking the CAI off and putting the stock on. I am ready to take it down to Toyota. I made sure to clean the MAF sensor as some suggested. Took a test drive, and it seems a bit more responsive. But not sure if it's my imagination for wanting it to be better after putting the stock CAI on.

I will let you all know how it goes.
